Author notes: Huge, HUGE thanks to my beta, A, who was gracious enough to do me the awesome favor of helping to make this story the best it could be. I don’t know where I’d be without you. Thanks also to r_becca for her patience with me, and for her kindness toward me.
serpenscript, you requested a dark fic with plot, character development, and quite a few kinks that I worked very hard to incorporate into this gift, including those that don’t need warnings. I truly hope you enjoy it. Happy holidays.

Holy cow. This is stunning. I owe you much more detailed feedback than that, which will have to wait for a more time-free time for me, I fear, but I wanted you to know that I REALLY liked this. Wow. :)

*back*

What a great take on the "Voldemort won" scenario! I like the women-centricity of it: Hermione, Luna, and Ginny trying to make their own way with the lot they've been given. I especially loved Hermione's POV, and how IC she was - constantly using her brain, trying to find a way out of her situation. I loved how she tried to trick Lucius - and the hints that Lucius had come to care for her, in his own twisted sort of way were delightful. It gives one hope that Hermione might actually be able to find the book someday, or convince Lucius to help her.

But even if she does, of course... you've raised such interesting questions about, What is reality? If she reverses the spell and send them back to the 'real' world... well, who's to say the slave world wasn't 'real', and the Harry-won world is just an illusion? It's so interesting!

I also really liked your Atwood-esque theme that dystopias must by nature involve violence against women. Okay, Atwood might not agree with the eroticisation of the non-con here, but hey, it's fanfic, and I really enjoyed it. *g* But, yes: the forced marriage, the blood-traitor laws, the rape and slavery (which seemed to extend to Seamus, Bill, and Ron, too, which is fascinating, although you kept the women at the centre of it) - all so well done.

[/rambling] Great story!

Oh, and the ending! I meant to mention that. I admit that I was a bit disappointed at first: what happened, I wanted to know. How could you end there? But after thinking about it, it works really well for your dystopia. I expected, of course, that they would reverse the spell, land back in the common room, and wipe their brows in relief. But I actually love that you pulled that rug out from under me! It's so much creepier and dystopian that they can't escape! *shivers* REALLY nicely done. :)
