[info]j_crew_guy: Birth scene in Breaking Dawn to be "intense" and "tasteful"

According to cast members Jackson Rathbone and Nikki Reed, the scene in Breaking Dawn where Bella gives birth to Renesmee will be "intense" and "tasteful".

Jackson Rathbone tells me that the cast is very impressed by screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg's treatment of the much-talked-about birthing scene in B.D. "I think people are really, really excited and surprised about how tastefully it can be done," he said at Spike TV's Scream Awards.

Nikki Reed echoed Rathbone's enthusiasm. "It's intense," she said. "It's really intense."

Yeah, I'm totally sure that Bella's POV will be completely tasteful. I'm sure her uterus is quite flavorful for vampires.

Because it's the magic of birth! She's becoming a mother! There's nothing horrifying, disgusting, or traumatic about birthing a child if you're the mother!

...Hm, wait a second...

Though I have to admit, has birthed a child with minimal amounts of disgusting, with no horror or trauma in sight. Then again, my husband did not rip the child from my womb with his teeth, the sissy. He couldn't even stand up.

I'm thinking it could actually be good if they frame it like a horror film - lots of Gory Discretion Shots, silhouettes of Bella writhing and arching on the bed as the thing in her belly fights for freedom. The fountain of blood, without showing where exactly it comes from; maybe spattering all over something.

As long as the staging conveys the sense of "OMG SO WRONG" that belongs in any faithful adaption. This is not the sterile miracle of modern childbirth, this is something unholy clawing its way into the world. :p

This is what I want! I want it to say "This is a monster coming into the world! Fear it!"

I want the audience to shiver with atavistic dread every time this movie is mentioned. I want the scene to be compared, favorably, to scenes from The Exorcist. I want people to be begging for brain bleach!

Am I bad person for wanting all that? Or just greedy?

No, he just tears open the amniotic sac or placenta or whatever with his teeth, because the actual tissue surrounding the baby is vampire tissue, only vampire teeth can cut vampire tissue, etc.
