The Men Who Camped Out for Twilight: A Photo Essay

I personally don't want to make fun of these guys, especially considering my own age and fannishness, but this was still amusing.

(Last picture may be slightly NSFW as it features a T-shirt with Kristen Stewart flipping people off. Then again looking at the whole thing is worth it just for that.)

I work at a hospital, so I had to take three days off.
Right now someone is not getting the medical care they need... because of Twilight.

No, not really. Instead, some temp nurse is getting work that they wouldn't have had if someone else hadn't taken days off.

Or the schedule has just been shifted around slightly to cover their shifts.

It's amazing how some people think healthcare workers shouldn't ever be NOT doing healthcare. I work in a hospital in a small town, and I've had people who recognize me stop me on the street and demand to know why I'm not at work. Ugh.

[info]rosehiptea: Getting wildly off topic...

I'm a nurse's aide in a group home on the graveyard shift. My schedule is four nights on, four nights off, which usually gives me plenty of time to do what I need to do unless it happens on a specific day, in which case I ask for a day or days off like anyone else. I'm not a neuro-surgeon, they can replace me with any other staff who wants an extra night and is willing to work graveyard.

My boss, however, wants me to put a reason on the form, and I feel like a fool putting something like "anime convention." So I put "family obligation." (Hey, I was taking my kid to the anime convention.)

I'm on the graveyard shift too! I'm a paramedic, I work in an ER as a tech, 6 10 hour shifts on, 8 off. It's pretty awesome.

Yeah, I love the graveyard shift. But working in the ER must be rough. My nights are virtually always quiet.

(I did just get my CNA license though, so I might be looking for slightly different work. We'll see.)

He said "take off", not 'skipped out'. There's plenty to mock here without being an idiot about it.

*blink*
Wow everyone. It was a joke. Did it not read so through text? I guess I'll make it more blatant next time.

Make a better joke next time.

In all fairness (to you I mean) the article makes the same jokes, so.
