Here's a sample of the insanity over on Portkey about this article:

"Its almost like its undisputable proof that Harry and Hermione should be together, I think for the most part, this is also proof that people outside of online Harry Potter fandoms are H/Hr supporters."

How on Earth would Dan and Emma getting together be "undisputable" (sic) proof that H/Hr should be together?

Just once I wish either Dan or Emma would publicly say "Ick. STFU weirdos."

We need a charity drive to buy these people a clue.

No wait, then there'd be no funny. I take it back :)

...Who offline?

Do they mean the actors, who are both openly fans of Ron and Hermione's relationship? More like fangirl, in Emma's case.

Since I lurk on Portkey way more often than is good for my sanity, this is not the first time that I have seen the "delusion" from Harmonians that EVERYONE outside of the Internet fandom ships H/Hr. For some reason they seem to think people will revolt when HBP reveals the pairings. They seem to think that such a response will finally convince JKR and all of those mean girls from high school...er, I mean R/Hr shippers, that they were right and everyone else was wrong.

But, never fear. When such an event fails to materialize they will simply comfort themselves with endless postings of how they are smarter/more sensitive/deeper than the average bear and that's why they see the inherent beauty of H/Hr when no one else does.

When I told my friends who are non-fandom fans of the series about those who believed H/Hr was going to happen, they laughed their asses off. Then again, they're not a part of the fandom and according to some of the batshit, they're not true fans. Forget the fact we went all out who the major death in HBP would be, whether Harry was a Horcrux, if Snape was loyal to Voldemort or Dumbledore, etc.

Who offline?

My husband, who is slightly aware of fandom activities, mostly of the batshit insane varity (because I show him the really funny Harmonian stuff), sent me an email to the story with the subject line: Shippers?

I *know* I watched an interview where Dan did sort of say "Ick". He was asked if they were dating and he basically expressed the sentiment that Emma is like a sister so dating her would be a big, old NO WAY!

Hm, now to find that interview.

undisputable proof

I do not think that means what they think it means.
