The HMS STFU - BLAST FROM THE PAST
|

| Ok, so over on LJ, there is this little H/G Rec com, hpgw_otp, they gather all things H/G and rec it to its followers; from art, to meta discussions, to news on the up coming HP movies, even fanfic. Well in today's post, they link to crack_broom, another fic rec site and I think its name speaks for itself. Well there is an old, and particular fic that is rec'd in this post...
KNOCKERS by msscribe
... I'm kind of dying of the LOLS...
... for those a bit newer to the insanity of HP wank, this is original HP Ship Wankage. Msscribe is the infamous Sockpuppet Mistress, you can find her exploits detailed here and this fic is is about Ginny, developing over the summer between 5th and 6th years. Suffice to say, its rather wanky...especially for Harry LOL, | comments: Poke a delusional shipper |
| | They took the rec down. How the heck it got past everyone at the comm long enough to be posted is beyond me. That it would be rec'd at crack_broom doesn't surprise me, though. | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |

| Why take it down? Yeah, she dis some really horrible things, but does that mean her stories should be blacklisted?
That kinda rubs me the wrong way somehow. I'd like to think its OK to appreciate a nice piece of artwork on its own merits even if its creator is morally reprehensible. I might not want to give that person my money, depending on how strongly I feel about whatever they have done but yeah, is it wrong to admit they are good at their craft?
I really don't know. Thoughts anyone? | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| A lot of fics are, but if someone likes it and thinks someone else might get a laugh out of it, eh, why not?
Its the whole 'No reccing because the person is a jerk' angle I was reflecting on. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |

| | But she isn't good at her craft. The fic is fairly mean-spirited and insulting, too. I don't think Sandyclaws or Dallas meant that MsScribe should never be recced - but a fic that is nasty AND bad AND has a history behind it is kind of icky to rec. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |

| Me too, but this made me laugh:
"Strange teenage boys had been following her around and offering her candy all day."
{snort} Hmmm boobies...here have candy. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| Candy? Wtf...
Is that an euphemism for something?
Also: I sporfled at the MsScribe rec. That's like reccing Cassandra Claire to an author who got plagiarized by Kaavya Viswanathan. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |

| I think it's a reference to the "I have candy in my van, little boy/girl" stereotype of child molesters.
'S just WEIRD when applied to a teenage girl, though...

| | I had thought, "Maybe she's in Japan on White Day?", but that wouldn't work, because White Day is when people who received gifts on Valentine's Day give something back to the ones who gave them gifts. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | The story is horribly sexist and, despite what the crack-broom poster claims, horribly out of character. And it was specifically created to put down what turned out to be a canon relationship. All of which can possibly be forgiven in crackfic, if it's funny enough. But it's an interesting contrast to all the tales of stories rejected from Checkmated because of Ron and Hermione and their relationship not being depicted exactly in the way the serious-business mods think it should be: see checkmatedrejex. And the part about it being specifically created as an anti-H/G story makes it rankle a little that it was recced so publically as being a paragon of H/G stories and is still visible on a site focused on another canon ship. | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |
| for my part, I just find it funny that it showed up on hpgw_otp as a rec... r_becca won't be happy with it when she finds out, I think she was around back then when Dionne was pulling her crap... does this kind of show my age fandom-wise that I even know this fic??? | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| Nah, the OTP links to discussions and recs of H/G. This is H/G, it's a rec, it belongs in the newsletter IMO. Msscribe might've been a vicious instigator but that doesn't mean her fic is all bad. ;)
I remember reading and enjoying this fic when it was first posted, haha. But I haven't read it since. I don't remember it as a vicious H/H argument but then I always loved that feisty Ginny... wonder if the story reads a little differently now? | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | ...actually, the fic on its own merits is horrible, not as bad as some mocked here, but still bad. I guess the fic wouldn't be so utterly fail if it weren't for the fact it was designed to be rejected at places like Gryffindor Tower and The Sugar Quill so Scribbles could bitch and wine about it. Meh, at least now most of the fandom knows what a horrible human being Scribbles is and we can all look at her fic and laugh at her | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | ...it comes from ye old ship debating days, when the HarMOANians were being wanked constantly on FW Proper... vanceone made a comment about Ginny being the school bike and of course, this was one of the many icons made to mock him, this one too XD | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| That mentality always bothered me. Since when does being popular = school bicycle? She had boyfriends? Big deal, she's a cute redhead.
*grumbles*
Apparently, I am still stuck in 2005. ;) | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | nah is cool, it was such a stupid thing to say, even for him but I guess I just under estimated just how much of an idiot he turned out to be. He really lived up to this icon, for realz... | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | Jeez, MsScribe seems to have had a boob fetish. The first three or four paras are just about Ginny's front-end. I get that males like that stuff, but... y'know? | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |

| | I think it's funny that her clothes are conveniently so tight that SHE CANNOT WEAR A BRA. I know the Weasleys are poor, but come on, couldn't they just enchant her shirts into a bigger size? | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | I dunno - it got pretty... close there. I wonder how many ratings restrictions MsScribe skirted the thin edge of here. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |

|
| We do, but "Boobs" in my experience gets used far more often. I am trying to think of the last time I heard "knockers" in conversation, and all I can think of is the Carry On films. :S

| Okay, sorry, I had to comment on this part.
Harry caressed the swells of Ginny’s hips, found out that he enjoyed kissing her while she moaned into his mouth, and loved that she made little grunting noises like a guinea pig right before she came.
I have had pet guinea pigs for some time now, and have one right now. The thought of a person making guinea pig noises in bed is absolutely hilarious, not so much sexy. | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |
