Some people put on a Harry Potter musical and it is pretty awesome.

I hope this isn't off-topic! I figured since the Twitter one was okay this would be too. If not, feel free to delete, mods :o

It's funny, but the technical aspects hurt my soul.

The sound, you mean? Yeah, it's hard to hear at times.

I love the score, though. :D

I love it! I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. I know it's an extremely American production, but I think it works better than if they tried to be fake-British.

Ron is very Jerk!Ron in this, but he's got great comic timing, and I love the snacks. Quirrel and Voldemort are my favorite. Voldy is obviously played by a really hot guy even with all that makeup on, and Harry's pretty hot himself. The girl who plays Draco is also really funny.

I only wish they'd included Neville's crowning moment of awesome, though I'm glad they at least included Molly's.

So true. I loved the way they put it together. The Harry/Ron/Hermione friendship dynamic seemed to be well played, and the "Draco Malfoy" character totally made me crack up with laughter the first time I saw him/her. :P

I don't know how much of the fanon the play's writers are aware of but they seem to at least know of some of the common tropes to poke fun at, since Dumbledore says, "What the hell is a Hufflepuff?", the Gryffindors are seated by themselves in the Great Hall, and Snape is rather nice-ish to Hermione (by canon Snape standards).

I thought it was more true to the books than the movies, to be honest. I like that they actually kept Ron's "coolness," which the movies sorely lack.

And Hermione's frumpy nerdiness, even if they turned her into the Butt Monkey a a la Meg Griffin. I thought "Granger Danger" was incredibly sweet though, I would like to see more of American Ron's softer side.

Yeah, I think the Draco/Hermione thing had to have come from fanon.

It was brilliant. Loved the whole thing. Harry and Ron were awesome as frat boys. Harry cracked me up every time he turned to Hermione to get her to do some work for him. Draco was spectacular. The rolling around on the stage was sheer comic genius.
Cedric was always smiling...even when mad. Crabbe and Goyle were made of win. Especially with that shout out to Billy Madison "Oh Goyle RULES!".
The song that Harry sang to Ginny for Cho...omg. Yeah, comic gold. Wonderful parody.

Really enjoyed this, thanks for pointing it out.

Aside from being a great comedy, they did a wonderful job with the poignant moments, like when Ron, Ginny and Hermione came to help Harry. I cheered! Also, when the rest of them were going to carry on without Harry.

I loved Ron (and his giant Hershey Bar) and Draco. Lot of love for Snape too. I liked the references to the books too, like when they were talking about "depressing camping trips" and all that.

I loved the poignant moments, too! Like after Ron destroyed the horcrux and the "Missing You" song. Voldemort/Quirrel managed to be heartwarming for me as well as hysterical. When they were tap dancing together all I could think was "This is DELIGHTFUL."

I'm never going to be able to look at Voldemort the same way though. He was way too likable (and strangely sexy) in this that they HAD to give him that ending.
