| I fear for the mean girls who tormented these girls in high school (if they even did! At this point, I'm believing the fact that if a pretty and outgoing girl happened to cross their path at some point, that's enough to hate her)...But their projection onto a fictional character who is in NO WAY A MEAN GIRL is...well scary. If anyone's seen "Billy Madison", these girls are Steve Buscemi's character without Billy's apology. They've got their "To Kill Lists" all ready... The funny part is, I don't even believe these girls are the "Hermiones" they think they are; besides the fact that Hermione would never speak of other women they way they do, I'd bet they've never even spoke to their "Harrys", let alone have him be their best friend (because they don't seem to understand that you can just be platonic with a member of the opposite sex). Their Harry probably doesn't even know they exist given that the extent of their existence is probably to lurk in the shadows shooting death looks at his "Ginny". These girls are just the fake, ugly, cruel girls they seem to believe Ginny is...and they could learn a thing or two about tact by acting more like the character they seem to hate so much. | ||||||

| I don't understand why any female reader thinks Ron is a sweet person,when he spent most of the series acting like a jerk to Hermione. LMAO. I love Ron even more for pissing them off so much. POOR HERMIONE! CAN'T HOLD HER OWN AGAINST MEAN OLD RON...wait a second...yes she can. In fact, she loves going at it with him (and you can take that in more ways that one after DH...) And why do they never mention how Hermione is a jerk to him? They're all jerks...Harry being the worst one! But jerk-Harry who makes Hermione all but cry is...appealing? | I've just finished reading a really bad Ginny-bashing / Molly-bashing fanfic, so forgive me if I sound "a little" upset... I think it's safe to say we all can't stand Ginny,because her character turned out to be a Jezebel and still won "the boy who lived". STOP IT with the whole "X girl won Harry!". People don't "win" people. We are not objects. I don't understand why any female reader thinks Ron is a sweet person I don't understand why any female reader would hate Ron for the most shallow reasons ever. I cannot abide her and it isn't because she ended up with Harry Yeah right *rolls eyes* c&m: Oh my dear Gin-gin, why do you have to exist? You are a mere hindrance to H/Hr. Don't you know that? In what edition of the books was Hermione trying to be with Harry? It sure wasn't the version I have, where Hermione was THRILLED when Harry kissed her in front of 50 people. You know, I might think the Ginny-haters have a seriously skewed interpretation of why she does certain things, like being friends with Luna or hexing Zacharias Smith, but at least they're talking about things that actually happened in the books. But this? Things like this just remind me of how often they blantantly just make stuff up about her in their attempts to justify their hatred. I'd like to ask this person to point out a single time in canon -- just ONE TIME -- when Ginny even remotely tried to "keep Harry away from Hermione," and watch them squirm and stutter and come up with some babbling tl;dr excuse for why they can't. In fact, I seem to recall her being accepting of the fact that he was going to be going off on a mission for God knows how long, to God knows where, and would be in the company of no one but Ron and Hermione. Yeah, Ginny was totally trying to keep Harry away from Hermione, y'all. Or maybe the Harmoanians are just confusing Ginny with Cho? I dunno. I wouldn't put it past them. They've proven time and time again that their memory is highly selective and their reading comprehension skills extremely shaky. | ||||||

I heard this little ditty on the radio and just could not help but think that Harmonians must love it. Sure enough, I found a couple of fanvids on Youtube set to it. | That's for being such a loser of a friend to Hermione, Ms. "Oh-don't-start-acting-as-though-you-und I need to start making a list of all the wash, rinse, repeat excuses they make up for hating Ginny (and Ron) and how easily they can all be contradicted by simply understanding context (which it's clear these people ignore). This one above, however, seems to be a popular one for even the most casual of Ginny haters. Which irks me, because I saw this scene as an AWESOME moment for Ginny. While I won't quote it verbatim, from what I recall, Harry's feeling like a jackass for almost killing Draco. Hermione--who's always hated that ruddy HBP and his superior-to-her-own potions abilities--is now setting in on Harry and scolding him like she's his mother. It's important to note that, while acting like his mother is a very Hermione trait, it's also very apparent that she's also very pleased that the HBP has finally failed Harry and she can now, "TOLD YOU SO!" his ass. So, she's yelling. Ron has already told her to give it rest, though he knows she's not going to, so he mostly lets her because Harry's doing a decent job of fighting his own battle with her. Even if, as the reader, we're feeling Harry's POV of "I get it, Hermione...I screwed up. Stop already..." at the same time, it's in Hermione nature to keep on endlessly--obnoxiously--until she knows she's perfectly clear. So even after she's made her point and we're ready for her to give up, we let it slide that she's still going... But she keeeeeeeeeeps going. She keeps going to the point where time in the day has passed and Ginny's now present. People don't seem to take into account that even then, Ginny--without 100% knowing her feelings for Harry--still cares a great deal for him, and she's probably tired of watching Hermione lay into him all day. Yeah, Ron, Ginny, and Co. let Hermione go at it for awhile because 1) there's no stopping her and 2) let's face it, Harry did deserve to be scolded on some level, but the issue is that Hermione doesn't know when to quit. That's what started to get to all of them... So Ginny, just like her brother, tells Hermione to knock it off. Hermione, who may have just now started to realize she's been at it too long, tries to save face by getting an ally; so in turn, she tries to tick at one of Ginny's interests--the Quidditch team--and show how Harry's irresponsibility could have screwed over her and the team. It's a manipulation tactic to get Ginny thinking, "Oh hey, she's right! Screw you, Harry! Keep going, Hermione!" But! Ginny sees right through it and tells Hermione so. We all know that Hermione doesn't actually care about Quidditch in the grand scheme of things; she doesn't care about the teams chances when it comes down to it. Sure, if they win...great, but she's not losing sleep over it. Ginny knows this too, and she calls her on it. Why is Hermione suddenly acting like she knows anything about Quidditch? Because she wants to get Ginny to side with her! The first time I read it, I thought Hermione was being over the top in that scene, and I saw what she was doing to Ginny the second she did it. I loved Ginny for calling her on it, but people who refuse to see Hermione's more seedy flaws (like her manipulation tactics) only see Ginny being a mean girl here. | ||||||||

| They will never understand that Ginny is not that popular girl at school that "stole" the cute kid they liked back in high school. Hating characters because you don't like them? Cool, everybody has the right to have an opinion. But this? This is not character hate. This is personal. Guess what, Ginny doesn't really care about your vitrol. She is fictional. | ...Especially Ginny-hate. Unfortunately I've been in fandom long enough now to understand the way the rabid fans operate (mostly). If a character gets in the way of their OTP or says something slightly negative to their favourite character then they get bashed. What I don't get is how Ginny (and Ron, although, I seem to have been unusually lucky because I haven't encountered much Ron-hate) seems to be one of the most hated characters in HP fandom. Yeah she ended up with the hero, instead of Hermione or Luna or whoever, but it seems like there's something else they're holding against her on top of that. Is it because she's Ron's sister or because she's popular, pretty and sporty? Is it because she's temperamental and sometimes does some not-so-nice things? Or does the Ginny-hate simply seem so vitriolic because HP is such a huge fandom? (I'd like to add that these fen are utterly bonkers, especially cakeandmilk.
