| *And for the last time, rabidfen, BACK OFF RON. Grr! *
I'll second that. I still tend to sometimes think some Snapefen hate Ron because he was in the same situation as Snape, in some ways, but he didn't make Snape's mistakes. Ron was from a poor family; he felt overlooked; he loved an intelligent, pretty Muggleborn girl, whom he thought fancied someone else. But, he knew how to have a laugh, he knew that bigotry was wrong, and he never ever considered joining the people who wanted his best friends dead. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |

| That's... an absolutely brilliant theory. I never thought about that, but you're so right.
Wow. Go Ron! | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | IA, Ron's situation shares quite a few similarities with Snape (although not exactly the same - for instance, Ron's parents were better than Snape's). I think that might be part of the reason R/Hr has gone on to overtake H/Hr as my trio ship of choice, actually. That, and the Harmonians ruined H/Hr a little bit, for me. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |

| I agree, Ron's parents were better. Plus, Ron wasn't book smart in the way Snape was. Both wanted to stand out, to make something of themselves, though. Ron had his flaws, but he had more moral fibre than Snape had as a teenager. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |

| | Yup, look at the slugs scene. Ron is humiliated in front of a boy he hates but rather than blaming Hermione for it, he blames Draco and does the right thing. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| I have often thought that.
One other differences was that Ron learned to overcome his bigoted views. Yes he was scared of Remus when he first learned that about Remus "furry problem" but he quickly overcame that. Same with Hagrid on learning he was part giant. He was able to disregard what he had always been taught, and to see when those views were either flat-out wrong or should not be applied all the time. Snape didn't learn that lesson until much, much later if he ever did. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
