| You do know the age of consent in England is sixteen, correct?
Yeah, I double checked that way back when I was making the decision to age them up or not. The age of consent is 16 in most states in the USA (including my state), too. If I weren't going to be writing *very* explicit sex scenes for Severus and Lily, I wouldn't have even thought about aging them up. But since I've run across a lot of some HP fic archives (turns out a lot of those are run by the same group) that require all characters in NC-17 situations be 17 or 18 and up, I thought it best to age them up to keep my archiving options open. Also, I feel more comfortable writing graphic sex for people age 18 and up, than I do for 16 and up, anyway.
Having said that, since most comments about the fic thus far have been to ask "what up with the age change?", I'm tempted to get over it (after all, it's two consenting people of the same age, who are at the age of consent, and no one is getting arrested for writing "16 and up graphic sex" in written fiction), say to heck with the archives that wouldn't allow it (I may not want to archive down the road, anyway), and go back to the canon state. IDK. I've been thinking about it, and it's not like the plot details that came from the age change can't be replaced with "not yet reached majority but have reached age of consent" plots.
Hmmm, yeah, maybe the fact that almost every comment is about the age change is a sign to change it back to canon, before I get to Story Arc #2, and it's too late. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
