| I'm trying not to laugh really hard. After all, I made my main Dragon Age character look as much like myself as possible (she ended up looking like a cross between me and Natalie Portman), and this is sort of similar. In a way. And I have nothing against authorial self-inserts -- in fact I like many of them -- so long as the self-inserts aren't practically perfect in every way.
But her expression in the pictures. And the fact that these are real people. And Louis XVI. I'm a bad person but I can't stop giggling. | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |
| | I'm with you, too. Just when I think the Internet can't possibly get any weirder, someone shows me some chick who's in love with a dead French king. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | Haha wow, I hadn't seen the post in that first link. But now I'm reading it and it's delightfully weird. Can all of our posts here be like this from now on? Just hilarious obsessive fans who go way overboard, and aren't all full of misogyny and racism. | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |
| What did Mark Harmon ever do to deserve THAT?!
Also, Gibbs would totally kick Snape's ass six different ways to Sunday, magic or no magic. | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |
| What's surprising me the most is that RedPassions manips/art aren't bad.
Weird as hell, yes. Bad? Not really.
. . . . I'm having a lot of feelings right now. | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |

| I know. They're weird, but not bad. Were she not obsessed with her Sue, I would probably not offer criticism to them.
I want to teach her how to draw fantasy-style female dwarves. It would likely challenge her Emily-based art capacity as she attempted to make Emily the female dwarf. Then she might forget about Emily and have fun drawing dwarves!
thenuttyone, who is not at all annoyed with Emily-Sue, and is not at all obsessed with fantasy-dwarves, but does, admittedly, have a crush on Branka from Dragon Age: Origins...okay, thenuttyone thinks dwarf women are hot. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| Oh lord, she's my age.
I admit I always get a little antsy when people create the one 'OC' and use them in absolutely everything they do because it's so very very obviously Their Idealized Fantasy Stand-In it's just vaguely embarrassing to me. It's so obviously their fantasy life writ large up there. Though I don't find it as truly baffling (or, for that matter, as just plain sad) as the people who fangirl this stuff. Where's the fun in reading about a total stranger's Mary Sue fantasy? Don't these people realize that they can have Mary Sue fantasies of their own and they don't actually have to live vicariously through someone else's? | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |
| I admit I always get a little antsy when people create the one 'OC' and use them in absolutely everything they do
Yeah. I also don't get it -- I'd feel like my characters were cheating on their actual twu wuvs. Also her Mary Sue is making me twitch because she has my first name. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | Why all the rage at Marie Antoinette? It's not like Louis had a choice when he married her. Christ... | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |
| Oh wait, I read on and apparently she says the Revolution happened because Marie Antoinette's spending was the cause of the French monarchy's debt. Which is just... um, no. Antoinette's love of luxury probably didn't help things any, but the roots of France's fiscal crisis in 1789 go back to the reign of Louis XV, when Antoinette was a still an infant.
So, really, the man reason she hates MA is because ZOMG Antoinette was married to her snuggle bunny and she wasn't!!!1 | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | That and the traditional "omg the king's mistress is totally bankrupting France" gossip that attached itself to her due to the lack of an actual mistress. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | Well, according to TvTropes, Louis ended up loving Marie Antoinette so much that he wouldn't even take a mistress as was the custom. So naturally she wants the woman Louis actually loved to Die For Her Ship. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | Ahh, I remember hearing about that. She would chose to have a crush on one of the few Bourbons who wasn't a horndog. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| True story from about two hours ago: I was checking out my deviantART inbox, when I saw some Snape/MarySue fanart in one of the OC groups that I watch. So I clicked the thumbnail, thinking "This'll be good." And it was. There were actually two such fanarts, both involving various scenes of Snape fawning over the oh-so-beautiful Sue. But the strange thing about them was that Snape was drawn very realistically, while the Sue was drawn in a typical anime style. I scrolled down to the artist's notes to see if there was anything good in them, and I was not disappointed:
Soooo hiho@all^^
Here we go with a new drawing and yes its again to my sweetie Emily+Severus XDD Phew i needed this time very long for to finish it... :/ But well to handle private life, RPG (if you wrote e.g 11 pages for ONE post XD), work, my men ect ect ect isn´t always that easy. X°°°D
However...
For all of you, who asking themself who is Emily, why she is with Severus and maybe not with Louis ect...
At this point I stopped and said, "Wait, Emily? Louis? Why does that sound so familiar?" So I looked up a little to see the artist's name...
SURPRISE MUTHAFUCKA, IT'S REDPASSION. I damn near fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard. | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |

| It always depresses me when a talented artist wastes it on their fantasy sues.
Also, holy crap I've seen sexier Toy Story art. | | (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | OMG, seriously? I was just loling the other day about her "Louis XVI: The Best King" stamp when it came up in one of my historical fashion followy-things. | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |

| Is it just me, or does RedPassion seem to have the idea that the romantic relationship is the only thing worth living for? I understand that she has an odd historical crush on Louis the Eighth, but there is no reason why she should bash Marie Antoinette for it. In fact...I honestly think the obsession comes from Rose of Versailles, because some of her old artwork (pre-Louis the Eighth obsession) seems to feature a character named Lady Oscar.
There is also a disturbing attitude that a woman must not have much of an independent personality beyond "love your man, support your man, be the light in his life" in her work. She has the Crush and her Mary Sue fawn over each other, without showing off other characters, or even showing them as having lives aside from one another. She criticized Alice from the new(ish) Alice in Wonderland movie for having a personality and not dating the Mad Hatter (from what I got out of it.)
Sadly, she does have talent. I only wish she'd use it for good, rather than Mary Sue fantasies. | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |

| | Why is there always such a crossover between Snape love and Mark Harmon love? I've heard that Mr. Harmon is a very nice man - what did he do to deserve these nutty fen? | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |
