Re: Kindle store searches Yes, it's not censorship. I mean, ok, you may see it as such, but I don't. I see censorship as something which is imposed by the state. These things are still available for purchase elsewhere. The chapters were sold separately, so apparently it was the chapters with the more explicit content which were declined. It's not the same as an entire book being sold & them saying "oh hey, edit this book." I know that to the *reader* it's the same, but to Amazon, each is a unique product. In all likelyhood, if the work had been sold as 1 piece, in its entirety, they wouldn't have approved it for sale. Annoyance != snark. Disagreement != snark. You and I disagree. And my response to your response got more heated because I felt it was really ironic that you were trying to tell me what/where I could express my thoughts while protesting putative censorship. Another thing that irks me about this is that when we've had Amazon (and other) company wanks before, there's a big outcry at the outset, and then NOTHING when the situation is resolved. Shouldn't we post updates? The deranking thing a few years ago was resolved, the "omg Amazon took 1984 off my Kindle!!" turned out to be a copyright issue (and I'm pretty sure no one has an issue with that, right?). But all that exists in our collective wank memory is "AMAZON SUCKS. Use B&N!" Post a comment in response: |
