THIS. I've found that Mary Sue seems to have come to mean one of the following: 1.) Character the reader dislikes. 2.) Character the reader envies. 3.) Character that is better than the reader in anything, except in easily identifiably shallow ways. At this point, a Mary Sue can be any character that has more than two positive traits i.e. beauty, intelligence, wealth, skill/talent etc. Post a comment in response: |
