One word: Hetalia.
A warning beforehand: This wank is a desert landscape of triggers.

Oh, my god.

Oh, my god.

Oh, my fucking god.

Translation: User palereverie posts in hetalia_wank, victim-blaming, trolling, and generally spewing massive, triggery bile all over the place. Massive wank occurs. Palereverie is banned for their conduct by mod kiokushitakaa ... for two weeks, because there's a three strikes rule, and everyone deserves a second chance! Response is so negative kiokushitakaa steps down as mod, but not before issuing a Heidipology to end Heidipologies.

ETA: "All the times I insulted you? Don't take it personally. I don't even know who most of you are. Even if you logged in, I still don't know who you are. It's not a personal attack. I was just being cynical and/or my own perception of humorous. I do not notice when things shift in atmosphere at all, and hadn't realized that the conversation had turned serious. I thought it was still just trolling around, so I continued."

palereveries is permabanned.

Pantsu volunteers to mod.

Looking sf_drama and palereverie's "OMG, you are all so transphobic and hurtful. How can you be so awful as to misgender me?" I have to conclude one of two things. One, palereverie is a twisted, ugly* piece of scum who is taking advantage of the fact that the people ze is arguing with are decent and considerate in order to derail the the conversation and make hirself look like a victim. Or two, palereverie is a twisted, ugly piece of scum who has no compassion or respect for anyone else on the planet, but fully expects people to treat her with the consideration ze never shows. Either way, palereverie is a twisted, ugly* piece of scum. Especially considering that the so called transphobic comments at sf_drama included one badly worded comment, some apologies, and then people telling palereverie to stop acting like ze was such a victim.

Oh, I'm also shaking my head at this long, unpleasant exchange. Look, I find Hetalia deeply, deeply icky. That doesn't mean I think that anyone is inherently evil for liking it. I mean, I read H.P. Lovecraft, and I'm fairly sure that Lovecraft counts as one of the ten most racist individuals of all time. I realize his work is problematic, but I enjoy the parts that aren't.

However, miezen's insistence that being Hetalia fan is like being a victim of Islamophobia is far, far worse. Hetalia fans, I am genuinely sorry that some people are jerks to you. But stop trying to convince us that your offensive manga isn't offensive.

*Referring here to hir behavior, not hir looks.

I think options one and two re: palereverie can live together quite happily in one person, unfortunately for the rest of us.

Also, I think miezen might get along well with the Harmoanians who claimed being an H/Hr shipper was just like being a slave in the antebellum U.S.

And it looks like at least once I wrote "her" where I meant "hir". I'll apologize now. It was an accident.

I've just been reading TVTropes' page on eldritch abominations, beings that so defy the natural laws that the mind cannot understand them and generally drives the people who witness it insane. Palereverie seems to fit it.

Claims to be trans, and then blames some of hir behavior on MPD.

Classic, CLASSIC troll strategies.

(Seriously: GTFO of my fandom AND my gender identity [although I ID as male, while ze IDs as neither].)

I highly doubt you're being anything other than a troll, but just in case:

Rape comments are never a joke.

Rape comments are never a joke.

It doesn't matter if you think they're funny inside your head, making fun of rape and the victims thereof is never funny, on teh internet, in real life, in print, nowhere.

Not. A. Joke. It's not reading comprehension, it's just how it is.

Yeah, I get that now and have already said several times that I have no intention of ever saying shit like that again. But no, I was not intending to cause a shitstorm and hurt people with the original comment. It was intended as a joke.

Even if you didn't mean to hurt people, you're still responsible for it and should apologize, even if you feel people responded too harshly. It's what you do when you step on someone's foot, and it's what you do when you make a bad "joke".

I know it's probably silly to reply to you seriously, but you seem serious here. I hope you take it to heart.

I have. Not just the apology I posted in the cap (which probably reads like a Heidipology in retrospect) but several other times, both in public and in private spaces. There is pretty much nothing I can do to better the situation at this point, so not doing it again in the future is the best plan I've got.

Your reactions to criticism has made it hard to take you and your apologies seriously and have been offensive. It's not just rape that you've taken lightly. I do understand that you knew even before that rape and STIs are serious things, but those are definitely not things to joke about. It's best to step away from the computer screen before commenting immediately and then apologize or not comment which I know is difficult if you are dogpiled (justifiably in this case) IMO.

I know I'm being preachy, but good luck with avoiding this sort of thing in the future. I'm sorry for the transphobia and threats you've experienced.

I don't think there's any point in trying to engage or help her. She can post "Oh poor me I'm so sorry" comments, but she's obviously learned nothing and clearly intends to continue being an obnoxious little shit.

I don't know what the troll said in reply to your comment because of killfile. I bet it was something "edgy", "cool" and all around "awesome", also probably saying you should get over it or not take it personally.

I love killfile.

However, miezen's insistence that being Hetalia fan is like being a victim of Islamophobia is far, far worse.

I read that as a comparison of bad logic (that is, faulty syllogisms were the issue in each case), not as a comparison of Hetalia and Islamophobia. I've no knowledge of the poster or the fandom, but it's not unusual to bring in another example of faulty syllogism without meaning to compare the two situations. It's the particular logical flaw, not the heinousness of the situation, that's being compared. I do, however, see a lot of "are you really comparing this to that?" cries when people do this online, which suggests that most fen don't understand this kind of comparison.

The other option being that we understand it perfectly well and we think that it's ridiculous*. Your ship not being canon is not racism, nor does it resemble racism in any way shape or form, and someone judging you on the internet for liking an offensive comic is not Islamophobia, nor does it resemble Islamophobia in any way shape or form. Not to mention that miezen is also wrong about the type of faulty logic happening. For her comparison to work, people would have to be saying, "Some Hetalia fans are horrible, therefore all Hetalia fans are horrible." What people were actually saying was "Hetalia fans like an icky comic, therefore Hetalia fans are icky." In other words, her use of an actual social issue doesn't do anything for her argument, but it sure does do a good job of making it look like Hetalia fans are victims of some injustice. Well, it would if anybody were actually buying it.

*It will be a beautiful day when the response to "This is nonsensical" isn't "You don't understand!" I understand. I understand that it's nonsensical.
