No, no. It absolutely made her more interesting. I was watching when Binks came out and it was amazing to watch how much everyone still loved and supported her. It's also not a single character defining feature. She's also a mother, daughter, sister, rape survivor, businesswoman, philanthropist. It can work out very well on the soaps if the writers remember the family roots.
In the case with Will, Sami loves her son (and all her children) to the point of almost dying for them. And I think Adrienne loves her son just as much as Sami.
