"Ahh, everyone is allowed their opinion except Christians. Typical." - Musiclover84
Unfortunately my posting this outs me as a watcher of Daytime Soap Operas. But this was too rage inducing to keep quiet.

So the other day I posted in the Days of Our Lives LJ comm that they've announced an impending gay storyline.

Everyone in the comm seems happy or at least they don't care because really, this shouldn't be news right?

Musiclover84 however is not happy and he posts in my post, but I thought nothing of it. He has since deleted his post but hey, Gmail is like a Sarrlacc and deletes things slowly.

Gays of Our Lives? No thanks.

Seems like the gay lifestyle has taken over all tv shows and movies. It's always the same thing too. Gay guy/gal keeps homosexual feelings a secret then eventually find out that hey, it's okay to be gay! *Gag*

Anyway, I've been in this group a long time (been watching Days for nearly 20 years) and this is the end for me. Take care everyone!

So today, I go to the comm and see a mod post.

Maintainer/Mod Update

Hi All,

I haven't needed to moderate this community in years due to people's ability to be respectful and polite. However, it seems people are overreacting to the news of the upcoming gay storyline. Please remember, you are entitled to express your opinions as long as it doesn't offend other people and some these posts are going over the top. Please keep the criticism of the show in the bounds of good taste.

Musiclover returns.

Scrolling back in the comm I see that people are expressing their enthusiasm about the new plot but of course, Musiclover breaks in to pee on everyone's good time.

Oh BS, like you really want to watch a show that takes away from the couples that have been around forever. I am offended that you are okay with taking this show in a direction away from it's 45 year consistency. Some of us have been watching this for a long duration of that time and the fact that newer viewers are coming through here & trying to ruin this show, greatly offends me.

Riiiiight, because Will and Gabby and Abby and Chad have been couples forever. *Rolls eyes*

Or the fact John's now a DiMera instead of an Alamain. That poor man can't keep a name or profession. Remember when he was a priest?

On the upside, you never have to be confused on if it's Roman since he's never around with Inept Commissioner running around. Apparently Marlena and John will be back soon, though.

I do remember when he was a priest. I just don't know why he was a priest! I think someone was indulging Drake-Hogestyn-in-a-collar fantasies.

I do not know about Inept Commissioner. Or that Marlena and John were gone. DOOL is one of the soaps where if you don't watch for a couple of years you actually do have a re-learning curve to figure out who's who. Unlike Y&R...

He was a priest so he could save Marlena from being possessed. Same guy that created Passions.

When the penny-pinching began, a lot of the old veterans were cut. Slowly they've been coming back. It became so jacked up that Corday finally had to step in. Now it's been a firing and rehiring spree. (For instance, with the recently fired head writer, the formerly barren Vivian had a son no one's ever ever heard about, said referenced Aussie pimp.) That's what I meant by losing viewers. It felt more like a GH switch where it went from the Qs to the Mob Runneth Over. Inept Commissioner is Bo with his well Bo-ness.

Oh geez. You know, I'm glad I'm not heavy in soaps fandom. I can barely keep up with weekly shows with 12 episode seasons like White Collar...

Well, I've been watching it since birth. You tend to absorb knowledge without trying after 30 years. I went years without watching but you still maintain because of how slowly things change.

Exactly, yes. I actually planned college class schedules so that I could eat lunch and watch Days. Oh, youth.

It was always on when I was younger, I was a big fan of Patch. Not Kayla and Patch, just Patch. Patch and Hope. And Calliope (Who's Harley Quinn's Voice actress!)

But then I stopped watching.

Then I watched it again when Chloe was Ghoul Girl.

Then I stopped again.

Then a few years ago I was in the hospital and had to kill time. Then Chelsea hit her little brother with her car and I was hooked.

Also, Victor Newman's building was sabotaged on Y&R and I was hooked then, too.

The best part? Matthew Ashford is coming back as Jack this summer. So that means that bitter war is over for the producers and actor. We'll have Adrienne and Jack. Maybe Patch'll come back for a family thing since Corday announced it was going back to the familynes of old. Then we'll have all three of the Johnsons momentarily. At the same time.

I don't like Jack.
Patch is currently Tucker Maccall at Y&R and he just married Ashley so I think he's staying there for a while.

I'm just glad we're not a bad Jack. Like some of the fillers, hello recasts. Plus, I'm just happy Mob Hour will be over so the families will be featured, other than EJ's Creepyness.

Sometimes they switch out, though, don't they? I know Stefano keeps going back and forth.

Depending on the era, that might have been epic. I didn't at all love it when Days was on at 3 so I could get out of middle/high school so I could watch Sami kicking ass.

A good chunk of my high school marching band was hooked on Days. We used to watch taped episodes in the bandroom at lunch. (I can't believe Will is graduating high school with only minimal SORASing. I feel so old. I still have his paternity reveal on tape somewhere.)

Days was so much fun back in the those days. I mean, they were so soapy and not a lot of badness. I...might watch SoapNet for Days at night, too. I mean, maybe. Possibly. Not saying I do for certain. *shifty eyes* Will's SORASing was like so much minimal than Brady or Belle's. It kind of amazes me. And it's more like Michael on General Hospital.

Of course, it seems like Stephanie de-aged so may be that's how it worked out.

This was *mumblycommentabout1989-90-91* years ago. It was a fairly good era.

*mumblesshewasinkelementaryschoolthen* I loved the epic 80s/early 90s soap lives. I always found them to be fun adventures.

And now I feel old. And grey. And Days is on my TV and I don't recognize the people on the screen, except, wait, there's good old Hope and Carly. And Jennifer? When did she come back? And what happened to Carly's face?

Aw, it's okay. Don't feel so old since nothing ever stays on Days. Jennifer came back last year. Carly got old, too much botox. Hence the shininess as she takes drugs. Half of the people will be gone in 2 months or so, with the mass firings. I'm sure you remember Justin and Adrienne? Mickey's dad and Maggie's wanting to date Victor.
