Unfortunately my posting this outs me as a watcher of Daytime Soap Operas. But this was too rage inducing to keep quiet.

So the other day I posted in the Days of Our Lives LJ comm that they've announced an impending gay storyline.

Everyone in the comm seems happy or at least they don't care because really, this shouldn't be news right?

Musiclover84 however is not happy and he posts in my post, but I thought nothing of it. He has since deleted his post but hey, Gmail is like a Sarrlacc and deletes things slowly.

Gays of Our Lives? No thanks.

Seems like the gay lifestyle has taken over all tv shows and movies. It's always the same thing too. Gay guy/gal keeps homosexual feelings a secret then eventually find out that hey, it's okay to be gay! *Gag*

Anyway, I've been in this group a long time (been watching Days for nearly 20 years) and this is the end for me. Take care everyone!

Hi All,

I haven't needed to moderate this community in years due to people's ability to be respectful and polite. However, it seems people are overreacting to the news of the upcoming gay storyline. Please remember, you are entitled to express your opinions as long as it doesn't offend other people and some these posts are going over the top. Please keep the criticism of the show in the bounds of good taste.

Scrolling back in the comm I see that people are expressing their enthusiasm about the new plot but of course, Musiclover breaks in to pee on everyone's good time.

Oh BS, like you really want to watch a show that takes away from the couples that have been around forever. I am offended that you are okay with taking this show in a direction away from it's 45 year consistency. Some of us have been watching this for a long duration of that time and the fact that newer viewers are coming through here & trying to ruin this show, greatly offends me.

Riiiiight, because Will and Gabby and Abby and Chad have been couples forever. *Rolls eyes*

I started watching Days of our Lives when I was about 3 years old with my mom. I remember Mickey Horton and his wife (not Maggie in those days, if those two are even still on the show!) had a baby. (Who turned out to actually be Bill Horton's son!)

I haven't watched in over 10 years, I just realized one day that I had a months worth of episodes saved to watch and that I'd never have time to catch up, and furthermore, I no longer cared.

But saying all that, I'm still glad this show is on the air. If it went off, it would be a part of my childhood, adolescence, college days, and young adulthood being wiped out all at once.

Micky the character died about a year ago. He had an off-screen heart attack (or stroke, can't remember.). The actor was old and ill and so he had to retire. It was handled with great dignity (Except for it being off-screen), they flirted with a Maggie Falling Off The Wagon story after words, and now Maggie and Victor are cozening up. Oh, and Vivian locked Maggie in a sarcophagus. Vivian is a one-trick pony when it comes to revenge.

	Wow! I imagine Mickey and Maggie are pretty old by now. It's sad that the character is dead, but at least he wasn't replaced with a younger actor! I think Mickey's first wife was named Laura. It's hard to remember now. Anyway, she was Mike Horton's mother. Is Mike still a character? (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Aw, that's a shame. He was a doctor, the biological son of Bill Horton and the social son of Mickey. I think the Hortons have taken a back seat to the Bradys for some time now though. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Mike came back for Alice's memorial service (the show had Alice pass away when Frances Horton did in real life) but is living elsewhere. But the show is getting back to basics by bringing back old favorites and returning to a focus on the Bradys and Hortons, so there's certainly a chance Mike could come back again.
