People need to be so much nicer to people they think are racist! I'm sure if they'd just been polite, Butcher would have taken them seriously and reconsidered his racism. It never goes:

Blogger: "[Author's name], did you intend for [extract from novel] to come across as offensive? If not, would you be willing to explain your reasoning for writing what you did?"
Author: "HOW DARE YOU CALL ME A RACIST, THAT IS THE WORST INSULT EVER. TWITTER FOLLOWERS DEFEND ME!

Actually, that last part seems kind of familiar...
