Sorry, I'm just... not thinking this through. I'm thinking of what happened with my sister. She stated very clearly who her rapist was. Her rapist and his defense contended that it was someone else, and without the immediate proof, since the abuse had happened over a lengthy period of time, the verdict was that it could have been any of the people the rapist accused or the rapist itself and they had no clear evidence supporting it either way. So it wasn't that they were saying she hadn't been raped, just that she was wrong about her rapist. I have no doubt someone who is capable of weaseling out of a rape accusation saying things like 'I didn't know' when the person clearly told them to stop is equally capable of diverting the attention elsewhere.
It's possible I'm just projecting, the whole thing was very hurtful for my whole family.
