Heartbreak & Heroines
Kynn created a RPG called Heartbreak & Heroines, and used Kickstarter to get $3000 in funding in 48 hours. Over on LJ, Jack posted his response to his ex's success, in two minds because he's glad someone he knows did something cool, Kynn raped him. A couple days later, alexandraerin posts as well, expressing dismay at Kynn's behavior.

Jack posts Tweets from Kynn and later, emails,. At some point, the Kickstart for the RPG is canceled.

Some responses are laudable. Others, not so much.

ETA: Kynn tried to get a new name on RPG post-ban.

ETA2: Elf has a post about it.

ETA3: Kynn denies the rape happened.

Exactly. Jack said no. He said it wasn't okay. If she didn't know that he didn't "like this", based on those statements, then it was because she didn't want to know.

The whole thing is so disgustingly typical of rape culture. The rapist claiming she thought the victim wanted it and that no didn't really mean no because of X, Y, Z. It makes my skin crawl.

It's also pretty typical of the kind of "mind reading" she does of people as part of her SJ-attacking. Can't point to specific examples because I don't save links, but I've run across a lot of her telling people what they meant when they said something, or what their intent was. So it seems like she has a long history of deciding she knows what people mean by what they say, and it being very different to what they say they mean.

Or she knew and didn't care. That would be prototypical rapist behaviour and, in my experience, is how these things play out. Knew it was unwanted behaviour, found amusement and/or pleasure in someone else's discomfort or suffering, believed the behaviour was okay because access to another's body was "owed," etc. Or so goes the list of reasons my abusers presented me with, save the part about, you know, "I'm getting off on your fear."

(I also think this is what people -- i.e., [info]sparkymonster -- is trying hard not to process/deal with, because if you accept that what happened to Jack did, in fact, happen, then you're left with the usual explanations of behaviour on the part of rapists. They are not comforting thoughts. People who know Kynn seem to not want to go there because, again, But she's a good person, really! She can change!)

believed the behaviour was okay because access to another's body was "owed,"

That's strikingly familiar.

I think I need to go step off the internet for a while, now.

She also had to have known that she would never, ever face legal consequences for anything she did to Jack, which is why she can safely talk about "defending myself in a court of law". The trans and poly and BDSM aspects of the relationship look terrible to the average jury, and it's disgusting that she's actually using that bigotry to her personal advantage.

I was thinking this and about Jack while I was reading alexandrain's account. There's no way he can ever get Kynn brought to justice which I wish he could get and he clearly deserves.

In fact, multiple reports suggest that this is an ongoing pattern with Kynn—inappropriate acts that violate another person's boundaries and repeatedly claiming ignorance of those boundaries.

That's what freaked me out more than just the report of the rape alone, it was the reports of public touching and ignoring Jack's "no". Together they're a pattern I've lived, on the receiving end, and it's just disgusting. I feel that filthiness all over again just reading about it.

Not only that, but touching his breasts in public, against his will. Purposely drawing public attention to his feminine body parts. Any person in a relationship with a trans person should know what a horrible thing that is to do. For one trans person to do it to another... it's just such a calculated act of deliberate humiliation.

Ugh, the whole thing is just awful. There are so many elements to it and they're all horrible.

Yes, x1000. The whole thing has just grossed me out and made me feel so unsafe all over again. I know it's the same for a lot of other people. I just want to consensually hug everyone hurt by this, especially Jack and his partners.

Ew. So much bad touch about this matter. D:

Definitely doesn't sound like the kind of person who should be getting kudos over inclusive and feminist RPG's. D:

There's also the sizable age gap. Jack is 24. Kynn is 43. I am not saying that relationships with such an age difference cannot work out or be healthy. However, in this case I think it further adds to why Kynn felt she was in a position to manipulate Jack and felt that she could get away with things she knew he clearly didn't want ("If he didn't want it, I'd know" defense is bullshit defense). The breasts-touching highlighted it to me since she felt so secure in her power that she exercised it publicly like that.

The way Kynn was talking I thought she was a younger person with narcissistic tendencies and a compulsion to make themselves into a victim. Now I see they're an older person who is tremendously fucking manipulative, and that makes me want to vomit copiously.

Yeah - while 24 is "grown up" (he says, coming to this aged 25-and-1-week) it can still be lacking in experience, especially with relationships. It depends on the person. Some people can be fine, some people can still be pretty much lacking in power.

43 has no fucking excuse. There isn't a way in the world a 43 year old can't be expected to be the reasonable, grown-up one.

Yeah, things take on a whole new spin when it's not two twenty-somethings battling on the internet.
