Heartbreak & Heroines
Kynn created a RPG called Heartbreak & Heroines, and used Kickstarter to get $3000 in funding in 48 hours. Over on LJ, Jack posted his response to his ex's success, in two minds because he's glad someone he knows did something cool, Kynn raped him. A couple days later, alexandraerin posts as well, expressing dismay at Kynn's behavior.

Jack posts Tweets from Kynn and later, emails,. At some point, the Kickstart for the RPG is canceled.

Some responses are laudable. Others, not so much.

ETA: Kynn tried to get a new name on RPG post-ban.

ETA2: Elf has a post about it.

ETA3: Kynn denies the rape happened.

Even if the situation between Jack and Kynn/Keeva was part of a BDSM scene/dynamic, with Kynn/Keeva playing the role of Top or Dominant, again that does not mean the issue of consent just magically goes away, and it does not mean that as the Top/Dominant Kynn/Keeva didn't have to take into consideration any of Jack's hard or soft limits.

The whole post needs to be read, but to put it short, BDSM dynamic being involved doesn't mean what happened to Jack isn't rape.

Thanks for the clarification. I assumed there was some negotiated D/s relationship there by accident. Not that it made any real difference in my personal evaluations because of my experience with vanilla and D/s relationships. If anything, I expect D/s relationships to be held to a higher standard because you're theoretically within a system that attempts to step outside the socially prescribed structures/boundaries for relating and replaces those with negotiation and communication.

Everyone has been assuming. I think because Alexandra said something about not stopping things because she's been involved in (consensual) stuff that looked wrong to outsiders, so I think people jumped from there to the idea that that's what Kynn and Jack were doing.

The fact that Jack is involved in BDSM is something that would be held against him if he tried to go to court, so it is still relevant here, just not in the way that's being spread about.

Amen to all of that. I'm glad I haven't personally encountered anyone outright saying "oh, if they were in a D/s relationship then it couldn't be rape" because then my brain would explode or something sticky like that. The whole breast-touching thing skeeved me out as much as the rape* because it all comes together in this whole ugly bundle of fuck-yer-boundaries that is so horrible IDEK what to do except go DO NOT WANT and scrub my brain out with fanfic and bleach in between attempts to engage.

*not saying their impact on Jack was equivalent, just that they carry close to the same weight for me in terms of hearing about boundary-abuse
