Heartbreak & Heroines
Kynn created a RPG called Heartbreak & Heroines, and used Kickstarter to get $3000 in funding in 48 hours. Over on LJ, Jack posted his response to his ex's success, in two minds because he's glad someone he knows did something cool, Kynn raped him. A couple days later, alexandraerin posts as well, expressing dismay at Kynn's behavior.

Jack posts Tweets from Kynn and later, emails,. At some point, the Kickstart for the RPG is canceled.

Some responses are laudable. Others, not so much.

ETA: Kynn tried to get a new name on RPG post-ban.

ETA2: Elf has a post about it.

ETA3: Kynn denies the rape happened.

This is fucking terrible. And sadly, I know a bit of what Jack feels, having had the whole rape and conventions thing myself. And then an entire community talking about it, and it drives you nuts because you feel exposed, but being quiet about it and have everyone act like that person is the best person ever feels worse, and no matter what, you can't fucking win. When you're a victim in this circumstance, you can NEVER WIN. Even the support gets tiring and triggering, and you feel like an asshole cause people are just trying to help you.

I hope Jack gets the help he needs, I hope he comes out of this okay. My heart is with him. I'd let him know but, you know, I know that's not always helpful. So I'll give my support from afar.

All of this. My heart goes out to Jack and I hope he comes through this all right.

If there's one bit of good news in all of this, it does seem like he's got a good and loving partner in alexandraerin, who's been really supportive and proactive about looking for the kind of help that will actually help. Even the best partner isn't enough to make this sort of thing painless, but it's certainly better than dealing with this alone.
