Heartbreak & Heroines
Kynn created a RPG called Heartbreak & Heroines, and used Kickstarter to get $3000 in funding in 48 hours. Over on LJ, Jack posted his response to his ex's success, in two minds because he's glad someone he knows did something cool, Kynn raped him. A couple days later, alexandraerin posts as well, expressing dismay at Kynn's behavior.

Jack posts Tweets from Kynn and later, emails,. At some point, the Kickstart for the RPG is canceled.

Some responses are laudable. Others, not so much.

ETA: Kynn tried to get a new name on RPG post-ban.

ETA2: Elf has a post about it.

ETA3: Kynn denies the rape happened.

In Ravan's case, apparently the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, since her mother has decided to (ignorantly) weigh in on this situation:

http://ravan.livejournal.com/545911.html?thread=1335159#t1335159

And this post, IDEK WTF:

http://jemyl.livejournal.com/180000.html

According to her logic, "true" feminists can rape whoever they like???

and Doing Basic Human Decency Wrong, Part II:

I just can't. YOU'RE DEFENDING RAPE AND A RAPIST AND HAVE THE NERVE TO GET OFFENDED WHEN YOU'RE CALLED OUT ON IT, HOW FUCKING DARE YOU.

Can't. Just can't.

"A true feminist simply sees the female gender as superior to the male gender. Females are also seen as not limited by anything. They're smarter, more clever and better at whatever they choose to do. "

Of course women shouldn't be limited by pesky things like consent, that would just be oppressive.

My god, where do these people come from, so I can make sure never to go there?

I have a general do-not-engage rule when it comes to people who refer to human women as "females". So far it hasn't steered me wrong.

A true feminist simply sees the female gender as superior to the male gender.

She doesn't know what she's talking about. What a surprise.

Basic Human Decency isn't optional.

Oh, but it is if you're a "feminist", because then you can claim anyone who tells you not to do things is oppressing you.

Apparently, being told not to rape is just like being passed over for promotion or paid less than a man.

Actually, given the stuff I was reading on my game messageboard the other day, I think some men think that too. These guys should get together, they have a lot in common.

Yeah, misogynists and rape apologists are all the same under the skin. It's been kind of scary and yet enlightening to see all that come out in something that's this embedded in the SJ community on LJ.

Someone demanded a female only server (probably a troll given how it was worded) and they were flipping out and saying this is just like those horrible bitches who wear skimpy clothes and get all pissed when they look at them, among other things.

I've forced myself to stop reading that thread.

For a minute I wondered if we go to the same one. Mine has a thread about whether "false rape" should be punished as badly as "real rape". I have no idea what's said in it, I'm not touching that thing with a 40' pole.

I just don't even know. IDEK, people.

I should never be surprised by women being rape-culture minions.

I truly believe that what should have been said is that Caoimhe still tends to act like a lecherous male in situations where she is attracted to someone and therefore Alexandraerin and Jack could not in good conscience support her most recent project.

So, they should have said "she is being trans WRONG" rather than "she committed a crime"? That is wrong in so many ways.

Your grandmother used to tell me that Confucious say there can be no rape because woman can run faster with skirts up than man can with pants down. Of course, that was always obsolete to me because women have worn pants too ever since I was a child.

Your grandmother was a racist, misogynist cockbite.

My mother used to tell me this. Well, without the Confucious part. When I got old enough to realize IT MADE NO FUCKING SENSE I asked her about it. And she said her mother used to tell it to her, so it must be okay!... And then she thought about it for a while, and realized it was misogynist crap. Only took a couple generations. Sigh.

My uncle once made a joke about the "coke bottle test". As in, if you keep moving a coke bottle around it's impossible to get a pencil into it. Therefore, rape is impossible. My gran verbally tore the living shit out of him.

My gran could totally kick Ravan's gran's ass.

The whole theory is patently ridiculous and thankfully rarely cited these days. It was an argument a lawyer made in a rape case in the 90s and a big deal at the time though; I remember it came up in my sex-ed class in grade 8.

My father sold us that one as an anecdote about some Austrian emperor. With a mother who complained that his soldiers had raped her daughter and he offered he would only believe her if she managed to get his sword into his scabbard while he moved the scabbard around.

Like that wouldn't be a "Emperor fails to prove point, wins Darwin Award" headline in the making.

No, she's not saying feminists can rape whoever they like. It's worse, she's saying that feminists are badbadbad and will rape men, because they believe women are better. But not her, she's an ~equalist~!

Some have called me a feminist. I don't consider myself one. I happen to believe that, indeed, women can do most things they choose to do witin the limits of their individual physical strength. I do not believe them to be superior to males, however. Rather, I think we are equal to the males of the species.
