Neo_prodigy silences a feminist critic
Over at LJ's inclusive_geeks community, korinna posts about neo_prodigy's misogyny, not only in his personal posts, but in his How To Write Slash posts and his published novel. She includes a large document of examples of his misogyny from the latter. Tee document can be downloaded here.

Why do you have to download it?

Because neo_prodigy responded like all good professionals to criticism and had LJ suspend the post, and when it was transferred to Wordpress, had that suspended as well..

Him. Him. I remember reading one of his How to Write Slash posts and being so enraged over his "sex between men is always a battle of dominance and must NEVER SHOW EMOTION" and "women always have sweet tender sex with lots of TEARS AND CONFESSIONS OF LOVE" that I wrote a very long diatribe ripping apart his blatant stupidity* and bigotry and then went over to the boyfriend's to demonstrate the falsity of his claims. And that was only part of All That Was Wrong in his posts and I want to hurt something now.

*I never made the post public, however, because he'd dismiss it as the defensive ravings of an ignorant slash-loving woman and it'd ultimately be a lesson in futility and pointless RAGE. I had no idea he was so infamous, though.

Wow, what a nincompoop he is; I'd like to see him sit in on the Gay Sex 101 (Or, How not to fail at slash!) panel at Anime North. When he finds out it's the two bigass macho looking bear dudes who are mega snuggly and have been together 13 years going strong and are happily and admittedly sappy by turns? He'll probably have a brain wreck and end up running in tiny circles until he passes out.

I'd pay good money to see that. Or to see him get sarcasm-bombarded clean out of the room.

Heck, a photo of the two aforementioned Fuzzy Bears smooching would be an icon with countless applications--given, of course, the gentlemen's permission.

The "best" part of that rant, for me, was when he said, "Gay men don't cry in bed! I know because if one did it around me, I'd gender-police the everloving shit out of him!"

Alfred Kinsey, he ain't.

For me, the "best" was the way he was (albeit unintentionally) erasing male rape. After all, if he's right and men are always up for sex, especially if the person is hot, then...if the rapist is attractive, we can logically conclude it wasn't actually rape, right? And based off his characterization on the different ways gay male sex and heterosexual sex are conducted, a man couldn't possibly be raped by one these wilting female flowers. Because he is a MAN and therefore MANLY.

...girls cry in bed?

I cried?

Damn, I wish someone'd told me so I would have known I'd had sex with female then. (I didn't.)

And that I'd managed to genderswap myself without even being aware.

I'm honestly interested to know what his response would be to this sort of thing. If straight women and gay men all conform to this behavior respectively, then what about lesbians? Do they cry but in a ~manly way? Or what about people who identify outside the gender binary? Do bisexuals still not exist? What about pansexuals? Or people whose romantic inclinations don't necessarily parallel their sexual ones? INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW.

Lesbians are still women, aren't they? They must both weep and cry, creating a mess of needless emotion. Bisexuals don't exist, remember. They just are denying they truly only want dick. And there's only the ONE binary code, you know. You can't get off-the-grid, so to speak. Everyone must be in an acceptable and normal range. Pansexuals are just like bisexuals, I'd think. And every woman MUST be as romance books say. There are no women that are emotionally more cut off or remote than a man. My last two sexual partners would be interested to learn since I was aghast by one's display and I thought of England for the two minutes. Oh, I guess that makes me a man. My bad.

That post was seriously aggravating in the misogyny and also the confusing of badfic tropes as tropes only THEM WOMENFOLK write. There's such a thing as characterization, and good writers grasp it without having to resort to emotionless, purely physical sex OR weepy sex, and it's far from just being a female/male thing.

There was so much of him not really getting it.
