It's a little "boy who cried 'Wolf!'" though; he so often claimed that random arguments and actions constituted death threats that it seems understandable why people didn't believe him when he really was under threat. Doesn't make the loss any easier to bear for his family and friends, of course, and my sympathies are with them.
