Thanks to your comment I'm imagining "...Cherik?" being said in incredulous tones by Erik himself. This has cheered me up a great deal from all the unfunny. So thank you.

(In my head, it's Ian McKellen!Erik, and Patrick Stewart!Charles is tactfully not-dying-laughing in the background, but YMMV.)
