I've used it as a debating tactic to try to show someone they're being bigots at some point - if people are going "OMG BUT YOU HAAATE CHRISTIANSSS, YOU HYPOCRITE", then trying for some sort of common ground of oppression to show why the gayhatin' is bad, mmkay, is at least a starting point.

It's not something I'd recommend, however, since they usually take the wrong message from it (at least in my experience)
