:hugs if they're welcome: I know how you feel.
I definitely didn't mean to imply that most people are overly-optimistic, just that there's that small inclination to overestimate oneself and one's situation that is necessary to sanity. And of course, depression is a lot more than just your outlook on things. But I've heard non-depressed people lament that they don't/can't properly estimate themselves, and wish that they could have realism without depression, which positively enrages me.
