Because simply being raised in a society that teaches you one language and not the other makes you a failure as a proper POC! Also, doing the thing that's more economically viable is teh ebil or something.

I thought the person (not on sf_d) who claimed that a non-Chinese person cooking Chinese food was appropriating was ridiculous, but this puts even them to shame. And it's infuriating, because it makes it that much easier for people to dismiss people who want to talk about real issues regarding appropriation and etc.
