Lessons from bronies: Removing ableist stereotypes is intolerant!
Remember the backlash when an episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic portrayed fan-favorite Ditzy/"Derpy" as "humorously" mentally challenged? Well, the concerns were heard, and the voice changed!

Aaaaand now some bronies are crying "ruined FOREVER!". To the tune of "not liking our insensitivity is intolerant!"

So, everyone who can now watch the clip without cringeing, you're harshing someone's squee, and that's terrible.

They also talk about "coming out".

As in, telling others they like MLP.

Yes, really. They think it's a legitimate comparison. (and then turn around and bash gays, of course, but we evil, icky gays aren't people to love, apparently)

It's different! Gays are like women. Useless and stupid.

Sure, sometimes we/they* have things that are worth paying attention to, but those shows and comics are only validated if a straight man likes them.

Yep. Hence the term bronie.

They can't even handle being put into the same fan categorie as regular female MLP fans. No, gotta be a bronie.

You just don't get how special they are.

Kind of in a locust sense.

Locusts seem to be a pretty accurate comparison, indeed.

I think the first hint I had that they were trouble besides, you know, knowledge of how this shit works, was when they were complaining that the toys should only have molded hair because the only people who liked proper hair didn't count.

I actually had to look up what molded hair was. And seriously? They made that argument?

Fail. Hardcore fail. So glad I never saw that argument. I liked proper hair on my ponies as a kid :/

Yeah, to make the toys more 'show authentic' IE the kind of action figures you can barely play with.

Kids fuckin' love brushable hair on their toys. You know, who the show and toys are really made for. Not hateful twenty something men*.

*not saying that adults can't like kids toys. But you got to remember who it's actually for, right?

No, you've got it all wrong. Kids don't care about brushable hair. Girls do. Girls aren't kids, they're girls, and they don't count.

I really loved that. You had all sorts of tiny combs and brushes to work the hair with, it was fun!

Sure, adults can like toys, but they shouldn't argue that toys should only be made with their interests in mind. The whole franchise wouldn't even exist without ponies being bought for children. Even bronies should be able to wrap their head around that one.

I remember an action figure collector claiming that a character from one of the bazillion Hulk lines, Chainsaw, was not an action figure because she happened to have a small, rooted ponytail.

She had chainsaws for hands.

(Hasbro, BTW, invented the term 'action figure' for GI Joe, because boys would not play with dolls. You know, GI Joe. The doll. THEY'RE ALL GODDAMN DOLLS YOU SAPS.)

Some days I could use chainsaws for hands.

And then you would have an itch and it would all end in a horrible, self-inflicted bloodbath. Maybe stick with just one chainsaw hand? Then you could quote Bruce Campbell at will. :)

B-but without real hair you can't have brushie brushie brushie, and what's the point?

This whole blowup makes me sad to be a fan of the show.

What are you talking about? Brony is totally a gender neutral term!

(I have seen them seriously arguing that far more than I would like.)

Bash gays, but also pat themselves on the backs for being so progressive about loving wanking to lesbian ponies.

Actually, they bash lesbians at least as much as male homosexuals, if not more.

Yeah, that "gay" was meant to refer to lesbians as well. But they still think they're awesome and ever so inclusive for fapping to two girl ponies!

[info]chikane

I mostly replied like that since I haven't seen bronies actually go "yay" at two-girl-pony shipping. Usually it was more "piss off, dyke".

But yeah, they probably do exist, I'm just cranky. It's probably the old "lesbians are icky scum, unless they allow a dude to join in" thing.

Haven't visited them, I mostly went with what I saw on forums.

And to be honest, since you call it fauxlesbian, I don't think I want to visit there, anyway. Your judgement isn't likely to be very far off. Not to mention the locus... bronies and their comments, which I rather avoid.

Yeah, they're pretty much of the "I love lesbians! I mean hot lesbians. I mean hot lesbians who want to with sleep with men. And are fictional. Fuck off, real lesbians" variety. Equestriadaily is a really gross place.
