Kickstarter Project vs Gamers, or: Why don't you think about the MEN?!
Tropes vs Women in Video Games is a project by a single woman to look at and analyze several tropes and stereotypes in gaming that concerns female characters. Sounds like a reasonable project, right?

Apparently, the internet doesn't seem to agree.

This goes as well as you think.

Major trigger warnings for each link. Don't wade through comments, as usual.

That fucking blows. Whatever legitimate criticisms you can charge at her, a lot of her videos make really good points really succinctly. I often link to them if I use a term in a blog post or whatever that some casual readers might not be familiar with (like "Straw Feminist" in one of her Tropes Vs Women videos).

The thing I love? (I mean, hate)

Is how people are labelling her videos as "youtube rants". Oh, sorry - I wasn't aware that women discussing sexism in video games was just "ranting". (>_<)

But she's barely ranty! Like, at all.

Yeah. I didn't get the vibe that she was either, but it's standard part and parcel of dismissing women as "ranting shrill bitches" so as to devalue what they have to say.

I swear, it's like the theory and practice of SJ 101 when privileged men start yammering on about any nonprivileged member of society making valid complaints.
