Kickstarter Project vs Gamers, or: Why don't you think about the MEN?!
Tropes vs Women in Video Games is a project by a single woman to look at and analyze several tropes and stereotypes in gaming that concerns female characters. Sounds like a reasonable project, right?

Apparently, the internet doesn't seem to agree.

This goes as well as you think.

Major trigger warnings for each link. Don't wade through comments, as usual.

I saw people throwing racist, homophobic, misogynist, and I don't even know what slurs on a Debussy flute piece playing over a nice picture.

O_O

Wow. I can't decide if people on Youtube really like being assholes, or if there's just someting about women doing anything besides the "LOL make me a sammich in the kitchen" acceptable behavior that triggers the wig-out-like-a-batshit-crazycakes impulse in these people.

Either way? My faith in humanity isn't that great at the moment. :(

On an extremely cute JRPG video someone linked in fandom_lounge, someone said basically, "I hope they translate this into English and bring it to the U.S."

Response: "Learn Japanese, you *misogynist slur*"

I have no idea what inspires these people. I only hope they remain glued to their computers and never inflict themselves on people or animals or plants in real life.
