Kickstarter Project vs Gamers, or: Why don't you think about the MEN?!
Tropes vs Women in Video Games is a project by a single woman to look at and analyze several tropes and stereotypes in gaming that concerns female characters. Sounds like a reasonable project, right?

Apparently, the internet doesn't seem to agree.

This goes as well as you think.

Major trigger warnings for each link. Don't wade through comments, as usual.

Are they really that insecure about themselves that just unfavorably commenting on the games they play invites that kind of reaction?

Oh, I've been playing video games for more than twenty-five years now and let me tell you the answer to that question: HELL. YES.

It doesn't even have to be an unfavorable comment. Certain of these men are deeply, horribly, violently offended by comments about how hot you find a male character in a game. For bonus points, mention how much you enjoyed romancing said male character. Then duck.

I'm sure you can get that reaction! I have yet to find any male characters in games to be hot, tbh, so I haven't run into that one.

Yeah, I meant "you" as in "one", rather than as in, um, you. Sorry I wasn't clearer.
