Eden Newman must mate before her 18th birthday in six months or she'll be left outside to die in a burning world.
... So not only is the book apparently a massive mess of racism, it also features mandatory under aged sex. I know 17 isn't that far from "adult hood" but if there is a law that you have to have sex, possibly be pregnant if you are female, by the time you reach the age of 18 that adds an entirely new level of DO NOT WANT for me. If 18 is the point when they decide you are no longer acceptable for "mating", what's the minimum age?
