OSC: Tolerate My Intolerance OMG!
"Orson Scott Card Wants Your 'Tolerance' for His Anti-Gay Views."

ETA: On a similar note, here's a column from ThinkProgress: "An Ethical Guide to Consuming Content Created by Awful People Like Orson Scott Card."

Someone set us up the damage control.

What baffles me is that they had to know about Card's homophobia from the start; you can't stop tripping over the evidence if you Google him. So this is a total ass-covering move. They could have secured the rights, said "fuck you," and tossed OSC at the start but clearly they wanted his presence for free publicity. Oops.

Or picked any of other of thousands of popular scifi novels that aren't connected to outspoken homophobes to adapt into movies. There are far too few Octavia Butler movies, they could start there.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves! From what I understand, this Octavia Butler character is both black and a woman; that might almost be considered progress. I'm sure there are plenty of white men whose books they could still get around to developing into movies. In fact, I hear that Asimov fellow's books are quite popular; perhaps we could make one of those into a film?

...I think I just threw up a little in my mouth from writing that. Excuse me. (And yes, the choice of Asimov as an example was deliberate. Seriously, barf.)
