Between Dashcon and now this, it's a crappy week to work on Welcome to Night Vale.

(tw: mentions of rape)

Sodomquake is best known to WTNV fans as the co-writer of "Summer Reading Program", the episode that introduced fan-favorite character Tamika Flynn. She is also known among Persona 4 fans as the writer of "Sympathy Crime", a fanfic that features rape. Tumblr user teethforlunch points this out, and is quite critical about Sodomquake being a writer of "underage rape porn".

Then Persona fans who've read the fic speak up, pointing out the fic is victim-focused and doesn't fetishize rape at all

Sodomquake's tumblr is now password protected. Teethforlunch has gutted their blog. (CORRECTION: Tumblr support actually did their job, teethforlunch's account was deleted, and a friend of sodomquake's has taken the URL to prevent them from getting it back) Cecilbaldwin-fan, the fan blogger that popularized the original post, has expressed her remorse over the matter. The creators of Night Vale are not happy, and Cecil Baldwin has decided to take a break from social media.

So, um...do your research, kids.

I'm on my 3rd Lamy Safari/Al-Star. I keep buying them and giving them away because I hate the triangular grip section! (here is why)

I love the Apple Green color of last year's LE Safari, and I like the ability to change nibs easily for fancy writing with a single ink, so I bought it from my friend who never used it much.

But, yeah, cheap pens on eBay! GouletPens.com sells a few Jinhao pens for less than $10 each, if you don't want to risk a Chinese ebay seller, and I really love the 450 with the mottled red/gold print. The nib is actually two-tone, and acts more like a gold nib than a steel nib, which impressed me. (The Goulets are the best, tbh - when my favorite De Atramentis pink ink had the formula changed, I was super sad, and then a month later they found an original bottle somewhere and remembered me and sent it to me for free, which is just amazing customer service. I'd only mentioned my disappointment about the change in the comments to the Ink Drop blogpost where we realized it had changed, and then once or twice on twitter, but I had talked to Rachel about how I was trying every single pink sample they offered in search of a perfect one, and that first formula was my favorite.)

This is the pen I bought yesterday, on a whim actually

Ohmagawd, it's even got a converter. Wow.

I have two Al-Stars; they're my favorite pens, although I'm also immensely fond of my Noodler's Konrad. I love flex nibs, especially with some of the Noodler's inks. Black Swan in Australian Roses shades unbelievably well with a flex nib. I may get a stub Al-Star, just for fun inks like that. (That's the one problem with a flex; they go through ink like gangbusters.)

I do love Goulet Pens. I've gotten so much stuff from them, and every time it's come in packaged like a champ and absolutely flawless. But that is way above and beyond the call of duty and I am so impressed.
