Do you mean in the "I've seen this word but don't know what it means, can anyone tell me" sense or the "I don't get the concept" sense?

I tend to give people a pass on the "I just haven't ever heard this word used to describe that concept" kind of stuff, because I got slagged for that a lot -- I knew stuff, but just hadn't ever heard various slang terms for it, so I got a reputation for being this incredibly cloistered and repressed virgin just because I'd never heard that "honeydipping" was a slang term for female masturbation. It took me a couple comments seeing "cisgender" in context here for me to know what that meant too.

But if it's more of a conceptual thing -- "what do you mean, why not just say 'normal' instead" -- then yeah, that's nuts.
