I am with you on Team Singular 'They' (along with Jane Austen and Mark Twain and Samuel Johnson and everyone awesome). ...and Chaucer and Shakespeare... Okay, they probably fall under 'everyone awesome', but I just always like to be really clear about singular 'they' having been a part of the English language since Middle English.
