Our first cat tried it several times. Hence christmas tree tied to exposed roof beam.
The little sister of our current cat used to get the ornaments from the tree by climbing up on our sofa and jumping into the tree with her front paws spread wide. That way, she usually managed to pull at least one ornament off on her way down. Her sister just sat beneath the tree and waited for whatever came down with her sibling.
