I think you're being deliberately provocative, and are subtly suggesting that if a librarian does not remove all possibly objectionable books, he or she must be a racist, and that I am positioning myself in the same place as the librarian Audre Lorde writes about. You'll notice that nowhere have I said "you're too sensitive," because I don't actually believe that. If I implied it somewhere, I apologize. As I said, there are racist elements in the books--and that's not okay. But I'm just not wild about school-sponsored censorship.

I don't see librarians as gatekeepers, and if a given librarian is racist, well, that's unfortunate, but it hardly speaks to librarians as a group.
