I never realized so many Snape fans were so...yeah.... I think it also important to note that Lily's 'sacrifice' is NOT what actually saved Harry....The difference came from Voldy - in the genuine offer to allow her to live - which we all know comes from Sev asking Voldy to spare her. Um, except that makes her sacrifice even more obvious, because she had a choice to live (as otherwise she would have probably assumed Voldemort would kill her, too) and she didn't take it because she loved her child so much. Also, they don't seem to know much about Lily (apparently she was only good at Potions?) and the whole thing about her not facing much prejudice isn't really on with HP canon (um, Lily was always identifiable as a Muggleborn, anyone would hear her last name and figure it out, just like with "Granger").
