Whoa hey! Pardon me if this is totally inappropriate -- seriously just tell me and I will leave it -- but is that a common marker of anxiety disorders? I ask out of personal interest in trying to get a better handle on some of my own array of awesome conditions. I've had something of a similar experience re awareness of mortality; if it's part of a constellation of possible anxiety symptoms, that might explain a lot of things.
