I once thought "all this PC stuff is going to far" for like a minute. I mean, you fuck up once and fall back on the insults you learned as a kid and calls something "gay" or "retarded" or "lame" and everyone piles on you. That sucks. Maybe that was the only time you've used those slurs in a long time, were really tired and not thinking clear, or just had a brainfart. Why do people have to be so ~mean~ about it.

Except. The people who bring it up are not being mean. They see someone using hurtful language like everyone else. Many of the other people have used the same words to purposefully hurt them. And now, here it is again when they are trying to read about some shit they love. This is the nth time today they have seen this. So yes, they will bring it up and go "dude, really?" or whatever. Maybe they get pissed. They don't know that you are "one of the good guys" or an "ally". They don't need to know that shit. You are just another person using slurs.

So that's what I remember if/when I fuck up. Then I apologize. Hell, it's the people that call you out when you fuck up that make you realize "I've got to work on this more".

It's not like anyone want's some Harrison Bergeron shit, just, you know, common decency for everyone.
