I don't think they realize how they'd be boning THEMSELVES if Funimation went under, since they're one of the last 'going strong' companies distributing anime in the US...
Although they're also probably the 'I will only watch fansubs! Even when legal versions are available! Because I don't want the original creators/voice actors/translators to get paid if it means I might have to give up some of precious monies/watch commercials!' type of 'fan.'
Plus it's not really their fault if they paid 4kids in good faith without realizing 4kids was doing the deal under the table.
