The Wonder Woman trainwreck keeps on keeping on
It's a dark time in the DC universe. The Wonder Woman title is still stuck in some kind of inexplicable AU timeline where Diana finally got to wear pants, in exchange for not being actually heroic or effective or competent or anything.
How the main universe and nu!Wondy are even supposed to make sense together (since Wondy Classic has been MIA since this started) has so far stayed a vague, wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey open question. And as such a pivotal turning point for Wonder Woman the character *and* the mythos, of course somebody decided that it would best to reveal such a crucial part of her superhero origin in Superman's book and make it all. About. Him. (See exhibits A, B, C, D, E, and F for Why This Is Stupid And Sexist As Hell.)
Naturally, jlbarnett, limitless source of the unfunny, is just plain oblivious to logic as well as patronizing, spawning a long thread about the nature of the phrase "calm down." Apparently being angry with sexism is the real oppression at work here. Who knew? | | Tuesday, February 1st, 2011 | 9:27 pm [sorchar]

Penny Arcade says, "Rape culture is hilarious!" Has anyone else been following the Penny Arcade Dickwolf Controversy (as I've taken to calling it)? The whole thing started with this comic, posted in August, which many readers took offense to due to an unfunny rape joke. The argument was revived with new fervor recently, and it's still ongoing. Personally, I'm finding it really difficult to enjoy the comic lately, because of the way this whole thing has been handled. A better and more thorough write-up than I could ever hope to put together has been posted here. Edit: Via seiberwing: An interesting protest movement has arisen on Tumblr. Edit again: A couple of comments have indicated that the Tumblr linked in the above post has malware, so tread lightly. Edit 3: Via lady7jane: This isn't the first time that Mike has exhibited douchebaggy behavior. "I don't know, Love Systems doesn't seem so bad to me."Edit 4: Via airawyn and alexa: Jerry responds. Edit 5: Via number13baby, Mike calls for the discussion to end. | | Friday, January 21st, 2011 | 8:20 am [sistercoyote]

Sometimes, there are no words. _dahne_ writes a screed about how being "PC" has gone too far.I don't even know what to say about this, other than someone needs to have their privilege checked. Badly. (Except, of course, that "Privilege, like 'troll' or 'fail' can now mean whatever we want it to mean, so my little statement there is apparently OPPRESHUN of her truth. Or something.) I count sexism, ablism, heterocentrism, and I'm pretty sure racism in this one sentence alone: The male side of fandom runs around calling each other niggerfaggots while the female side has earnest ten-page debates on whether calling something crazy is ablist. (Emphasis hers) Because the boys doing that is totes okay, y'all, and the girls should be doing the same thing. And men never, ever talk about whether what they're saying is hurtful to other people or not, 'cause that's girly stuff. (Hey, wankaboys, come and sit in the invisible corner with us bisexuals, English majors, and ampersands.) And then there's this: Like the idea of "tone argument." At its core, this makes sense; it's meant to address the idea that abused classes of people shouldn't have to be deferential to their abusers in order to be listened to.
In practice, what it means is, "I'm allowed to be an asshole as long as I'm really, really sure I'm right." I just...I can't. I mean, the tools of the master will never tear down the master's house, but come on. By refusing to accept the tenets of the tone argument, we're bullying the people in power? Whut? And both examples are from the first seven paragraphs of her little screed. There's also kind of a priceless gem in there about Fandom_Wank being a "prime vector" for "too much" political correctness. And I think the worst bit is (as far as I could tell before the comments were pushing me to the ragey point) she's not getting any disagreement. I would love to be able to write a thoughtful rebuttal that might be as widespread in fandom as this one's (apparently) getting, but I'm afraid my brain keeps hanging up on What Is This I Don't Even. ETA: t_boy found swordygardner's response which is a breath of fresh air in amongst all that fail. ETA 2: In fact, pretty much all of page 2 of the comments (which is about the point she turned off anon commenting, I'll bet you), is pretty awesome. | | Tuesday, January 18th, 2011 | 8:47 pm [d00mpixie]

Blog post prompts police to seize weapons from Arlington businessman. Remember Travis Corcoran, the owner of HeavyInk.com who lamented that the man who shot Representative Gabrielle Giffords didn't kill her? Well, he's under investigation by the Arlington police department for his comments. Police have seized a “large amount” of weapons and ammunition from an Arlington businessman while investigating if comments he allegedly made online were intended as a threat to U.S. Congressmen and members of the U.S. Senate.
Arlington Police Chief Frederick Ryan has also suspended the firearms license of Travis Corcoran, 39, who runs the online comic book business HeavyInk.com in Arlington.
Police Captain Robert Bongiorno said Monday that police suspended Corcoran’s firearms license on the grounds of “suitability” pending the results of an investigation into whether a comment Corcoran allegedly made online was intended as a threat in reference to the Jan. 8 shooting in Arizona that left six people dead and 13 wounded.
After U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head in the rampage, Arlington Police Captain Robert Bongiorno said police received information that Corcoran posted a comment online saying “one down 534 to go” in reference to Giffords and the other 534 members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.( The rest of the article. )Source. | | Thursday, January 13th, 2011 | 3:04 pm [monkeyarcher]

No proper way to make a witty headline about this I thought about posting this to FandomWank, but in no way is this funny, so this seems like the more appropriate location. So I am sure that everyone here is aware of the tragedy that occured down in Tucson on Saturday. If anyone needs a refresher, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Tucson_shooting , but essentially, we had some dude in Tucson decide to shoot into a crowd, killing 6 people and injuring several others, including shooting Congresswoman Giffords who was shot in the head. Horrible. Really no other words for it. But Travis Corcoran, from online comic shop Heavy Ink, seems to have a different spin on it. http://tjic.com/?p=19638Yup, according to him, the shame is that the gun-man didn't have better aim. Some people even support his position, because of course all is fair in ridding yourself of a Communist-politician...or something like that. So this being the interwebs, of course this gets out. I mean, he posted it intentionally to get out. "@tjic, you have my pity. May you grow a soul someday, because you are desperately in need of one." -- Gail Simone. "I'd like to ask that you... @ & your store @ stop carrying my creator-owned work. I respect your right to an opinion, but am not personally comfortable doing business with someone who advocates violence against people they disagree with. I certainly have no power to speak for my publishers and employers, but as an individual creator, I hope you'll respect this request." -- Nick Spencer "I can't stop someone selling my books, but please don't buy them from Heavy Ink." -- Paul Cornell more of the story can be found here http://www.comicsalliance.com/2011/01/10/heavy-ink-arizona-shooting-corcoran/?a_dgi=aolshare_facebook and http://robot6.comicbookresources.com/2011/01/unacceptable-online-retailer-draws-reactions-over-giffords-comments/ and some feedback at http://www.bleedingcool.com/forums/showthread.php?33148-Comics-Retailer-Causes-Internet-Storm-Over-Gabrielle-Giffords-Gun-Attack
There is an odd post which seems like it is referring to a manefesto of his beliefs, but actually it appears to be a bit of back-pedalling in responce to the whole outrage http://tjic.com/?p=19751 . His answer on "step 5" is interesting in being both unapologetic and weasely at the same time.
I am waiting to see what happens next... Current Mood: OMGWTF | 8:16 pm [mariem_1]

The sequel to the latest Snapewank Remember the latest Snapewank? In the wake of it sylvanawood came to ravenstar84's LJ and made really special comments: ( Read more )If you want to know what "well-written fanfic" sylvanawood is talking about, look at those links: A bucketful of SnapewankHarmonian wank with a Snapewank chaser. ravenstar84 pointed out that the comments made by mary_j_59 and totalreadr were problematic. sylvanawood agreed that totalreadr's comment crossed the line and posted an apology, but an imperfect one: sylvanawood
The post from which the following quote originates, has been removed because it is offensive. But since I don't like for difficult topics to be swept under the carpet, I've been opening this thread.
I remind you that this community is for a discussion of books and fictional characters. It's not about discussing general principles. In this case, though, I feel that an exception needs to be made. Discussions always will have 'real world' elements, but they should be kept to a minimum. In this case things went too far.
totalreadr wrote: Oh, I dunno. The whole reason I couldn't get up much sympathy for Emmett Till over on terri's lj was because he was popular and "acting macho." In my reading on the case I even found his family quoted as expressing that his death was *especially* tragic because he *was* so popular! For me their cris de coeur Did Not Work As Intended in the same way that Gerda Weissman Klein's /All But My Life/ did not (http://raisin-gal.livejournal.com/1539.html. (Primo Levi's work OTOH...but I digress.)
Emmett Till was popular, macho, had a bright future, etc....up north. Down south, none of that mattered because he was still black.
This is, indeed, a horrible thing to say, and for once I have to agree with the trolls who come here and shout their protest. Why is no one of the regulars protesting this? Do I have to open up the community for anonymous users to protest stuff like that? I'm trying to protect you guys and give you a niche, but that doesn't mean that stuff like this can just stand.
Racism can, perhaps, be debated in an academical manner when it is about fictional characters. This is about a real, horrible lynch murder. This is crossing the line.
Here's the link from ravenstar84 again: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmett_Till
Yes, I know, like others who hang out on her journal she's one of the wank trolls. But sometimes the trolls are right.
Comments here are open and remain so, and for once, I won't screen out the anonymous posts. Perhaps you can clarify this with a minimum of civility. sylvanawood refused to admit that the comment made by mary_j_59 was offensive and the faily conversation with ravenstar84 ensued: ( Read more ) sylvanawood's comment about sailorlum's plea is a thing of beauty, too. | | Monday, January 10th, 2011 | 5:06 pm [kaen]

A few days ago over at the Megamind community over on livejournal kit_a_licious posted fanart of a blaxploitationized Megamind and Roxanne. An anonymous commenter replied with a link to a commenter on the New York Time's review of the movie talking about racism that they felt was in the movie. Kit_a_licious makes another post talking about that comment, disagreeing with it any going on to say "I mean, yes, Megamind does have some black characteristics. He can rock the bald look. He can have a soul patch without looking like a total dip. He likes big butts. He probably also likes drums and watermelon, that doesn't make him a brotha." There's some disagreement in the comments with how dismissive she (and other commenters) are being, but things really pick up going downhill when citizenjess shows up with the seemingly innocuous suggestion of changing "characteristics" to "stereotypes" in that quote up there. Kit's response is that it's just a joke, and later that "I can't agree with anyone who takes anything too seriously", spends some time whitesplaining when her blaxploitation fanart is brought up, and then her older sister torreadora show up and starts trying to defend her. Note about ages: I know sometimes torreadora sounds like she's trying to comfort and defend a little kid who's just gotten into her first fandom fight, but kit_a_licious is actually twenty-five. | | Saturday, January 8th, 2011 | 3:55 pm [mariem_1]

A clusterfuck of racefail and misogyny on Snapedom Some time ago, when there were complaints about sexist treatment of Lily in Snape fandom, people on snapedom insisted that there isn't an ounce of sexism in their attitude towards Lily. Several days ago the snapedom mod sylvanawood issued totally not a misogynistic challenge - Lily revisited: Years ago (we've been around for a while, oh yes!)we had 'Severus and Lily' as a monthly challenge.
alicekinsno1 suggested to take a closer look at Lily's character:
Maybe something that discusses the character of Lily more deeply? I'd love to see what some of your ideas are for just how Lily went from treating Snape so harshly and talking back to James, to being the stereotypical "saintly mother" at the end of her life. There's something about her personality that doesn't add up.
That is to say, how her apparently selfless decision to die for her baby makes sense in light of the way she treated Severus or even James. With possibly a side comment about how despite being so powerful and gifted she didn't really show any of that by dying pleading for her baby's life without even trying to take on Voldemort.
Please post your entries here or in a separate post. I'm looking forward to your entries. That couldn't go well. And it didn't. Some comments of choice: ( Read more )The worst came when mary_j_59, who is white and who knows that there are WOC who identify with Lily out there (such as ravenstar84 and randomneses, who both wrote essays in Lily's defense), posted this: Another thought about Lily - this one is completely random. Lily, like Hermione, is a bright and talented Muggleborn, and a lot of people have attacked us here because they identify with her and consider Severus a lifelong racist.
Of course, he's not. It's canon that he changes. But-
I am starting to wonder why bright young women of color would identify with Lily. After all, her situation is not at all like theirs. They may well suffer low-level prejudice everywhere they go. Anyone can tell, by looking at another person, whether they are primarily of European, Asian, or African descent. And far too many people make judgements about others based on their ancestry. I can completely understand why these fans get outraged by young Sev's yelling "Mudblood" if they equate it with the "n" word.
But - it's really not equivalent. And Lily's situation is not in the least like theirs.( Read more )
Both ravenstar84 and randomneses wrote responses to this in their livejournals:
Oh...oh this is just gold....

Twitter rant: Read bottom to top To begin with, a sock twitter account for Laura Ingalls Wilder (the writer of the Little House On The Prairie books) was giving out the tweets of her family for New Year's. Here's the one for her Ma: HalfPintIngalls Laura Ingalls Wilder: Ma's resolutions: knit more; be less racist.Well... anyway, a nineteen tweet rant from another user followed. It's sort of epic. troposphere troposphr troposphere: ( This twitter rant has been reformatted for your pleasure )And that's that. I think it's hilarious, in the same way I think watching my cat totally lose it on a paper crane is hilarious, but the topic of racism and racism in the Little House books as potential for discussion is definitely unfunny, so I put it here. | | Friday, December 31st, 2010 | 4:15 pm [kumquat_of_doom]

Marvel Comics Creator Wank! Get your creator wank here! All right, I warn ahead of time that I came to this wank late, and the only posts I've found on the subject have been somewhat ... one-sided, shall we say. I was a little unsure as to whether this could make it over on fandom_wank, so followed the 'When in doubt' rule. (Also, forgive the attention-whoring, but I'm ill and 2010 has decided to give my arse a few parting kicks on the way out. Distract meeeeee.) Background: Lots and lots of Spider-man fans are, shall we say, quite unhappy about the events of Brand New Day and since, where Peter Parker gave up his life with wife Mary Jane (and all his memories of her) in a deal with Mephisto to save Aunt May's life. The whole plot was almost certainly an act of Editorial Intervention, since the guy in charge at Marvel, Joe Quesada, is well-known as hating Mary Jane and her relationship with Spidey. I don't read the Spider-man comics, but by all accounts the writing since this has not improved things a jot. Secondary background: box_in_the_box is well known for constant whining about what he refers to as NuSpidey. YMMV on how much of it is justified, but you cannot deny that that's a loooot of complaining. So, on with the show! The Beat, a popular comics blog, makes an entry which calls out a message board attack on Dan Slott, Amazing Spider-Man's current writer, as a 'Jerk of the world'. To recap, Slott responded to seeing one fan's accusation of hackery with a ... somewhat disproportionate rant. Just a little. Dan Slott, you see, spends perhaps a little bit too much time on the internet. But hey, the guy says he's sick and overworked, maybe that was just a one-off, right? Apparently not. bitemetechie makes brief reference to the previous debacle on her LJ... only to have Slott himself show up in the comments. Since the guy showed up to pick a fight in a stranger's LJ, neo_prodigy takes the opportunity to call out Slott for racist writing, with particular regard to the Norah Winters character, about which fans have been complaining for some time now... And apparently manages to drive Slott off LJ in one comment. Slott may be down, but he's not out! He takes to Twitter with his grievances, as he has done before: "You make a living on writing a racist character who denigrates people of color and you have the fucking gall to —" Mark the date, 12/15/10, that's the point I hit the richest vein of Internet-Crazy. Someone I've never addressed or talked to on the web, addressing me for working on Spider-Man 'cause he's a "racist character?" What now? OK ... cross LJ off from places to "visit." Crazy, please stay in that corner. :)You might think that would be it ... but you'd be wrong. Slott pokes his head above the parapet once again, in response to a later post by neo_prodigy over at Ars Marginal, neo_prodigy's other blogging site. In response, neo_prodigy and afro_dyte/RVCBard attempt to ban Slott and delete his comments, but the guy just keeps coming back! For bonus: witness Slott's flailing about his constitutional rights! Flail, Slott! Flail! box_in_the_box (as K-Box, unless I am very much mistaken) keeps baiting the guy, but you know what? In this case, I can't entirely blame him. By way of conclusion, Ars Marginal posts another entry outlining ALL of Slott's known bullshit, both professional and extremely unprofessional. The end? Maybe not ... since if box_in_the_box is to be believed, we have sockpuppetry! PROFESSIONAL sockpuppetry. Seriously, if it weren't for the hideous racism, this would be an amazing fandom_wank post. | | Tuesday, December 28th, 2010 | 9:20 pm [ruslan]

Fail! Fail everywhere! Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez, the author of The Dirty Girls Social Club, discusses how Hollywood turned her Afro-Colombian-American character, a straight-laced and squeaky-clean monogamous lesbian, into a sexed-up cheating bisexual with no noticeable African ancestry. (Her Birkenstocky partner? Nowhere to be seen.) Why? “We had to make her bisexual because the lesbian story line isn’t fresh anymore,” Lynnette told me. (By that standard, we ought to make all straight characters bisexual too, no?) “And, let’s face it,” she said snarkily, “no one trusts a bisexual.”Wowwww. In fact, EVERYBODY in the adaptation has been seriously sexed up regardless of the characters' actual, you know, personalities and beliefs and book-verse behavior. (Except for the overweight character, of course, when she acts sexual it's just a fat joke.) And the diversity of the Hispanic population has been completely bled out of the script.ETA: The fail is coming from all directions! The author's stance on some of this is pretty slut-shaming, and then there's this, where she comes out as bisexual in an email interview with AfterEllen. And then gets offended when mentioned as bi on her Wikipedia page and retracts it, claiming to identify as straight. (Then there's a weird blog post she made entitled Under Attack By Lesbians, claiming that she only tried to retract her comments because hard-right Cuban exiles were making attempts on her life. But she baleeted it and it's probably lost to us now.) Is she bi? Straight? Questioning? Who knows? She also did the same thing again, claiming to have bipolar disorder after David Foster Wallace's suicide and then retracting it. The David Shankbone from the AfterEllen interview calls her on her bullshit, to which she, well: Alisa took such exception to these statements, that in response she wrote this about me (as if I wrote it myself):
You are a tremendous fucking bitch, and I suck donkey dicks with communist straws. I was hired by the Cuban government to “fix” your wiki page, but they asked that I never tell you this. Oopsies! I have to remember not to promise Fidel anything when I’m high on peyote. My bad.
Strange times on Wikipedia, indeed.I have no idea what's going on anymore. *makes popcorn* | | Tuesday, December 21st, 2010 | 10:57 am [t_boy]

Cut, because of TRIGGER WARNING: Domestic abuse, violence, threats of harm, misogyny.
Harry Potter star 'beaten after meeting non-Muslim man'
( cut for triggering material )
GODDAMNIT, MUSLIM MEN. D:<
ETA: Wait, hang on, this news report was dated mid-2010 this year. Oh, wait... has this come up before? >_>;;
META: I just saw a whole slew of comments calling me out on tarring Muslim men out with the same brush.
Okay, that’s a fair interpretation of what the original post says. And it isn’t immediately clear from the context that I’m a Muslim man, and I’m more frustrated and angry at the level of privilege seen by Messr. Azad’s statements & actions, rather than expressing some kind of anti-Muslim prejudice.
I really apologize for not making it clear that I was frustrated and angry at seeing what both these men did to their family member, not only as fathers and brothers but as Muslim men. Men who are in the position of familial and community power, who belong to a religion that constantly tells the whole world that they are a peace-loving religion, that their principles of justice and equality are universal, and yet violate these principles when dealing with members of their own community.
And I speak this as a dominant-culture Muslim male living in a country that privileges my needs over the needs of people of other religions, genders and orientation, and treats those who question or attempt to move beyond such a broken paradigm as munafiqs and ignorant.
If you thought I was being Islamophobic and unfair towards all Muslim men in general, frankly, I don’t blame you, because after a second reading of this article, yes, it does sound Islamophobic. So I’d like to apologize about that, and I hope the context I provide here compensates for that pretty massive FAIL on my part. | | Sunday, December 19th, 2010 | 6:40 pm [anarchicq]

Is this called sexsplaining? Hello, it's time for People Being Dicks On The Internet with a side of Good Mod Smackdown Is Good. It's old and frozen now, like that stew in my freezer that it was sworn would be turned into a dinner one day but is so old now there's probably chunks of dinosaur in it. But. Dagor_Hamster needs information, so Dagor_Hamster goes to little_details for help. So far everything's on the up and up, right? Dagor's question is just some stuff about romance, to make things more realistic. Dagor is an aromantic asexual. Anghara's monocle pops off. What madness is this? In-between using the term 'suffering' to describe being asexual, they also say this little line: the alternatives (the researcher is a child who has not yet felt any kind of romantic awakening; the researcher is an emotionally cold adult unable to reach out to or relate to other human beings; the researcher is overanalysing a purely emotional gut response; the researcher is an alien or an android desperately trying to comprehend the baser human impulses) I'm just saying, Anghara's kind of a dick. Things go along with people arguing, etc. A NEW CHALLENGER APPEARS. Features: Asexuality means you're saying you never loved your family (I couldn't think of a keeping it in the family joke here, and am sort of glad), and a whole lot of 'you're just saying you're asexual to be cool, you poser.' Finally, the mod smackdown I promised you: Kutsuwamushi gets sick of this and says so. The anon argues back, leading to a final word on the subject that I want to be able to emulate one day. edit: I just reread this and realize I sound kinda biased. On the other hand, there's worse people to be biased against. I will live. | | Sunday, December 5th, 2010 | 2:12 am [kumquat_of_doom]

Cissplaining and Ass-Haberdashery and Pseudo-Intellectualism, oh my! Over at the_hms_stfu, farmercuerden makes a post declaring, and I quote,' "hir" must die.' This goes about as well as might be expected, but farmercuerden continues to faff about being a twazzock and generally cisplaining (cissplaining?) up a storm. On the plus side, at least sailorlum learns from her mistakes and eventually issues an unreserved apology for doing the same thing, an example that the OP could probably benefit from. (Full disclosure: I'm in there for one comment, before it occurred to me that the post would do better to be linked here considering that other people have got in with the Earth Logic before me.) ETA: Aaand we have lockdown! chienne has the original post capped here. I also managed to restore a copy, and after taking a frankly embarrassing length of time to transform it into a .jpeg, I present you with a cap of the original post with all the comments up to when I commented. ETA Harder: Houston, we have a banhammer! And a well-swung one, too, IMO. ETA With A Vengeance: Oh, look at what happens when my internet's out. sailorlum helpfully posts a nice, organised recap of all the posts that got lost between my screencap and when farmercuerden froze comments. Cookies to them! And, in a move that anyone with half a braincell could have told him not to make, farmercuerden decides to pay us all a call. Cue yet MORE cissplaining, pillocking about, and a total inability to understand that the word 'cisgender' DOES NOT MEAN WHAT HE THINKS IT MEANS. Oh yes, and he deletes his own comments over here, as well - except unfortunately for him, both sailorlum and I have notifs switched on and got copies. sailorlum provides them here. Incidentally, back over at the_hms_stfu, we get a little more info on the comments going bye-bye. Finally (at least, for the moment), via chalts: farmercuerden is apparently still playing the martyr like it's going out of fashion, AND STILL DOESN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT 'CISGENDERED' MEANS. Cry moar, twonk. Live Free Or ETA Hard: farmercuerden is duly banninated by Sep for comment deletion. In the words of Charlie Brown, GOOD GRIEF. Really, if it weren't for the subject matter this would be a perfect fandom_wank post. It's been a while since I saw such a perfect storm of utter stupid. Hetalia: Not like Star Wars. yuletide is the community for a huge annual fic exchange that works like a Secret Santa. The focus is on obscure fandoms, and for many years the mods have had the final say on what is and is not eligible. While working out some kinks in a brand new automated system, they posted a non-final list of the fandoms nominated that were eligible for this year. Now, there's a whole ton of wank about that, but I'm focusing on a specific complaint. One that dips its toes in the realms of unfunny. vom_marlowe is very unhappy with Hetalia being on the eligible list. Not just because it's popular, but because "Third, Hetalia is the fandom where a bunch of fans stood in public at a convention this April and sieg heiled Hitler. It made the news.
This is not like having Star Wars accidentally added. The fans sieg heiled Hitler. Yes, I find the addition of Hetalia particularly upsetting."Nevermind that what members of a fandom have done has no bearing on its Yuletide eligibility. Elizabeth Moon vs. Sense, Round Two Continuing from where it was left off over on Unfunny Business, Elizabeth Moon's invite as Guest of Honor to Wiscon has been Officially Rescinded. Not by the concom; by their superiors, who announced this with a very short statement. Comments, predictably, are rather full of fail. Venture hence fully understanding the risk to your blood pressure. Lots of the usual "PC brigade will RUINS THE WORLD!" bullshit. Discussing this: Cat Valente, Nick Mamatas, and N. K. Jemisin. The ever-fiery Karnythia has some stuff to say about the con itself. Ms. Moon is entirely silent. ETA: Cyan_Aura was kind enough to provide mention, and Juliansinger to provide a link to Ms. Moon's really fairly snippy leaving of the birthday party; since her GoH status was rescinded, she's decided just not to play (rather than attending and facing real live human beings). | | Wednesday, October 20th, 2010 | 9:27 am [es_]
