It's the namecalling that really hurts.
Know that guy who kept his daughter locked in a cellar and repeatedly raped her for 24 years?

He's upset that people are calling him a monster.

"I'm only being portrayed as a monster and not as someone who committed monstrous acts."

I can think of a few other words to call a man who "committed monstrous acts" to his own daughter for twenty-four years. I don't think they'd fit in a CNN article, though.

Stuff like this makes me wish I could shoot mind bullets. Over long distances. He'd get one in each thigh for sure. Nice, messy, difficult to fix.

Then I'd do it some more.

I'm dazed. I hope to god they never let this bastard out.

Each time I think of it, I wonder what, if anything, can be done to get the lives back of that poor woman and her hapless children. When I heard about the fact that two of them spend most of their time crawling, and how another had never seen the moon in the sky, and yet another died days after a botched birth, I cried. However, I hope there's some kind of happy ending for his victims.

If he were trialed in Finland, he'd probably get a year of probation.

OKAY no not, but in Eastern-Finland where during this year there have been several child molestation cases where those fucking baby rapists got off with probation or a year of jail.

I'M SERIOUS.

"I'm only being portrayed as a monster and not as someone who committed monstrous acts."

Uh. Doesn't that kinda come with the territory? Commit monstrous acts, be called a monster?

From this article, I saw this: But Fritzl said: "If it weren't for me, Kerstin [the 19 year-old who was admitted to hospital and started off the suspicions] wouldn't be alive today."

...

It makes me think there's nothing - NOTHING - we could do to him that would ever be justice for twenty-five years of imprisonment and rape and abuse.

...You know what, actually? Let's let him have this one.

Because what he hasn't considered is: if you are a monster, there is no other way to be than to be monstrous; it is your nature. It's beyond your control. But if you are a person who just did monstrous acts -- that means that you could have decided not to do monstrous acts, but you did them anyway. You behaved contrary to your nature.

And, frankly, that's even worse than being a monster.

So, hell, let's give him this one. Sounds to me like he's admitting he's even worse.

The thing that's really getting to me is the fact that he allowed the oldest daughter to get medical help, even if that probably meant it'd give the game away. Because how the fuck can someone be that utterly depraved, and yet have that small micro-speck of humanity? It just makes it all the more disturbing.

For the most part I would never ever ever wish rape on anyone. Ever. Even I draw lines.

But this guy? I'm VERY tempted to want other inmates to make him feel as fucking helpless as his daughter had to feel. I would not feel any kind of pity if he suffers. :(

I'm going to have to agree that he isn't a monster. The word is too weak and unimaginative for the horrific things he did.

This guy deserves his own word. Preferably something that when anyone says it he bleeds out of every hole in his body.

The latest CNN article on this subject brings yet more appallingness and what-the-blue-fuck-is-this:
"I tried as best I could to care for my family in the cellar," Fritzl said in the published comments.

"When I went into the bunker, I brought my daughter flowers and my children books and stuffed animals," Fritzl said, adding that he would watch adventure videos with the children while Elisabeth cooked their favorite meals.

"And then we'd all sit at the kitchen table and eat together," he said.

It says that two of the children were adopted by him and his wife right? I'm kind of wondering what went on in the wifes head? There's no way she couldn't have no known about her own daughter being held in the cellar for twenty four years. Was she okay with it? Or was she threatened by him as well?

"Monster" is a mild term for what this guy did, IMO, and it's printable in a newspaper; most of the appropriate words for what he did aren't.

Dude, why am I not surprised that he's trying to make out that HE'S the victim here? Clearly he thinks he's the most important person in the world and can always order it to suit himself. Memo to Mr. A-Million-Times-Worse-Than-Any-Monster: If you commit monstrous acts you ARE a monster. At the very least.

There's nothing his government could do to him, either, that could come even close to making him suffer as his family members have. Anyone charged with doing such things to him would have to be a monster him/herself and it would qualify as state-sponsored torture, which is a line that should never be crossed.

Sadly, when crimes go past certain levels of law-breaking (theft, murder, arson, etc.) there's simply no justice to be had. (Can someone masterminding genocide and/or mass-murder ever truly be appropriately punished?) How appalling that a human being is capable of something so heinous that it beggars the mind (a sane mind, anyway) to find some appropriate response to his actions.

I so hate this story – been reading about it since it broke last week. It makes me feel so dirty every times a bit more comes out. I want to stab the guy in his eyes and let them rot for ever. He’s so old and might not live long enough to suffer enough.

I think he’d already started on his granddaughter/daughter and I would love to give her his balls as a get well present if it would help.

He turns me into a blood thirsty monster.

These are the times when I wish there were still public hangings/burning for heinous crimes. Then again, in those times he wouldn't have even had a finger shaken at him. ARGH.

What I think the most suitable punishment would be:
For him to realize, to the full emotional extent, what he did to his family, and to feel the responsibility for it, to the full emotional extent.

Basically I want him to go made from the thought of it all.
