Shut up, Liddy. Just . . . shut up!
This may come as a shock to some of you, but G. Gordon Liddy is, in fact, an asshat. Today's asshaberdashery: declaring that Obama's pick for the new Supreme Court justice, Sonia Sotomayor, is unfit for the court because she might be menstruating during judicial conferences, which would make her decisions suspect.

I only wish I were kidding.

Well, golly gee whillakers, Mr. Liddy! I never thought about it like that before, but now that you mention it, I guess we womenfolk ought to just let you menfolk make all the decisions for us, since you're obviously all so sane and reasonable.

Unsurprisingly, Jezebel is not impressed. I, personally, would like to hear what Sandra Day O'Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsberg have to say.

This reminds me, for some reason, of an encounter my father had with Liddy.

For the first couple years after they retired and moved to Cape Cod, they both got a job at a local florists' for the extra cash and to have something to do. My father had a delivery job with them, and he actually quite enjoyed it -- because, he said, "everyone is happy to see you when you show up."

However, the one and only time he made a delivery was sometime one summer when he was asked to deliver two arrangements to a hotel in Hyannis. One was to another GOP bigwig staying at the hotel -- and the other was to G. Gordon Liddy. He was asked to bring each arrangement to their rooms directly. The other GOP guy was gracious about it -- but Dad said that Liddy gave him a dirty look the entire time that my father was dropping off the flowers (and asking him to sign for them, etc.)

I think Liddy is just fucked up in a really, deeply weird way.

	When it says "Sorry, there was a problem", the post did go through, but the redirect afterwards decided to hang. If you go to another page instead, you'll be able to see the post. (Reply to this)(Parent)
