Remember Trent Reznor's Twitter fight with the crazy fan? Well, he's leaving the Internet now, and he makes quite the flounce on his way out. (Posted here to be on the safe side—he decries "unattractive plump" girls who hang out on a forum wishing they could hang out with him and making racist comments, and he offers hints for cutting.)

He has a point about Web 2.0 not being a good place for him. Interaction works best when you're on the same level as the people you're talking to, and usually sours more the greater the difference in status, so when you have a RL celebrity getting personal... it's not going to be pretty. And that's all understandable, and so is his anger at the douchier fans he encountered online.

But see, that's why you have a PR agent. So you can go, "Hey, does this 'Farewell cruel Internet' letter make me look like a total cockbib?"

PR: So no one knows exactly how much of a classless blunderfuck you are.

I fully expected something like this to happen. It's not a secret that Trent has a lot of douche quality, and he absolutely has the personality that overreacts to Mean People on the Internet. I'm more surprised that he was nice for so long. It's not like he isn't famous for being a bit emotionally unstable.


I never want to meet him, and I'm a massive fan.
