Survivor for five-year-olds
Kindergarten teacher makes class vote on whether student should be allowed to stay

A St. Lucie's teacher made a five-year-old student (who is in the process of being diagnosed with Asperger's) stand in front of the class while the other students took turns saying what they didn't like about him. She then put the question of whether he should be allowed to remain in the class to a vote. He was kicked out by a vote of 14-2 and spent the rest of the day in the nurse's office.

And it only takes one comment before someone suggests she should be promoted.

Maybe the school board can hold a meeting where they make this lady stand in the front of the room while everyone else critiques her and then votes on whether or not to fire her. From life.

So she found zero results for "professional kitten crusher" on Craiglist, and settled on teaching instead. Nice one.

I do feel sad for her, though. It must suck to enter the workforce only to find yourself developmentally on par with a small group of people who occasionally eat things that are not food and have fingers that smell like peanut butter no matter how many times they wash their hands. "If you can't beat 'em..."

Unfunny overshare time...

When I was in 6th grade, I had a really hard time in school. I was the kid who was universally hated (fat, socially awkward, gay), and pretty much every day ended in tears. So my teacher decided to have an "intervention" which was basically letting every person in the class say what they hated about me. When I tried to defend myself, she told me I was being defensive. I ended up breaking down into hysterical tears and she sent me to the office, which wasn't humiliating at all. That was pretty much the final nail in the coffin, and mom took me out and homeschooled me.

I cannot immagine this happening in kindergarten. It was awful enough when I was twelve, but I had other friends outside of school and the perspective to know that it wasn't the end of the world. God. I kind of want to kill that teacher, seriously, and I hope they fire her and never let that crazy bitch around kids again.

I looked at the first comments and didn't have the heart to go on. My horrible years at school never got as as horrible as that, but I got hit in the face with same exact "you kinda deserve all that crap" mentality over and over again. Sure, it's just an initiation rite! All you need is to live through it! One day you'll look back at it and laugh! No reason to be bitter or traumatized! HOW ABOUT NO.

Inclusion of kids with behavioral problems in regular classrooms is a tough issue. One one hand, it's not fair to let one troubled child disrupt everyone else's learning. On the other hand, excluding them from their peers often just makes the problem worse.

But... that's not the issue here at all, and many of the comments on the original article seem to be missing that completely.
If a student was causing so much trouble that they needed to be removed, that's one thing, but there's no justifiable reason for making it into a humiliating public spectacle.

FUCK YOU WITH A STICK. It's shitty people like you that made my sister's years in middle school horrible. Luckily she was able to go to a high school where she had more support but what about kids who can't afford it yet still need help? YOU GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKERS.
