If it helps, the guy from Cardiff also mentioned in the article? He got his arse soundly kicked all over Cardiff University's campus (he made the front page headline of the student paper, headline being simply WTF?), and the university dissociating itself from him totally.

I'm at the uni, so I can guarantee that one.

Even then, he's incorrect, as he fails on understanding the clinical definition of ephebophilia. Jackass shouldn't be complaining about "misused" (in quotes because he's wrong, period, as some of the cases involved are paedophiliac in nature) terms when he can't use them properly himself.

They don't exist, of course, or they were sluts who just entangled the poor, poor, defenseless priests.

Actually, one of my favorite books ("Good Catholic Girls", about Catholic women's protest movements and generally Catholic women trying to change the organization from the inside) has a good chapter about how women and girls abused by priests were sidelined and forgotten throughout the whole ordeal, including by a lot of the groups that tried to hold the Church accountable for sex abuse in the first place.

I love my Catholic heritage, I love certain things about the Church (the focus on Mary, especially), but the crazy in the hierarchy keeps me from ever getting too close to it.

This. There is a lot about Catholicism I find wonderful, but some of the dogma, but I can't handle shit like this. I left the church when I was 18, and while sometimes I miss the ritual of it, there's always something that pops up to remind me why I left.

I was raised in a Roman Catholic family and many of my relatives are still RC. I've tried to grow some respect for practitioners of all faiths. Not all of the best people I've ever met have been Buddhist or pagan; I've met & been lucky enough to know some truly fine, spiritually aware Roman Catholics. BUT I'M GONNA START KICING SOME STUPID ARCHBISHOP ASS RIGHT ABOUT NOW. Dear Jesus, please come back soon and if when you come back you'd like to say you're gay I won't be at all upset.

Yeah, sure, those men totally go for boys because the men are gay, not because boys at that age are pretty feminine, or anything.

No, really, that's what actually happens in most cases. Which makes sense, as gay men simply are a small part of the population. The overwhelming majority of pedophiles - even the ones molesting boys - is straight.
