The official policy of the Australian Government is that they don't assist, or cooperate with foreign Governments in criminal activities where the penalty will be death. The Australian Federal Police clearly went against that policy, by tipping off the Indonesian Government, thereby executing them by proxy.
I cannot agree with that, and I do have sympathy for some of the smugglars, a couple of them were only 18 years old. I don't think their crime deserves 30 years in prison, or death.
